The Supreme Court has never rigidly defined "religion" under the First Amendment. In Seeger, Welsh, and Torcaso, SCOTUS protected non-theistic belief systems (Secular Humanism included) if they address ultimate concerns, offer comprehensive answers on human nature and morality, and function like faith in believers' lives.

Transgender ideology is a religious ideology. It posits an innate "gender identity" independent of biology (a soul-like essence), demands ritual affirmation ("preferred pronouns," medical "transition" as sacrament), enforces dogma (innate trans kids, "gender-affirming care" saves lives), punishes heresy (detransition stories, biological reality as "hate"), and promises transcendence over embodied sex. It even has martyrs, saints (allies and activists), and eschatology (a liberated future).

Government flies Pride flags featuring the transgender triangle on public buildings, the White House, and schools during Pride Month. This isn't neutral speech; rather, it's official endorsement of one ideological faith over others, and over dissenters who hold traditional religious or scientific views on sex.

Under the Establishment Clause, that's unconstitutional.

No more taxpayer-funded cathedrals to gender theology. Demand equal treatment!

Either remove the flags or let every competing "faith" fly its banner. Courts, apply your own precedents consistently. Transgenderism is a religion, so treat it as such and separate church from state.

Moyn is not crazy. Children are basically slaves to unqualified captors who did nothing to earn their position, but they are also more truthful than adults; and parents care much more about themselves than they let on (always cloaking it as love for the child).

Parents have highly mixed motives, are often struggling to keep themselves and their marriages alive, suffer from extreme sunk cost fallacies, and much, much worse. Skeletons in every closet, appearances need to be managed, etc. Parents are so cognitively and emotionally over-burdened that they frequently lie to themselves and others about all kinds of things, and they often don't even know it because they don't have the time or energy to take stock, reflect, update, etc. This is the real cause of the archetypal mid-life crisis event, where people wake up at 40 or 50 and don't recognize themselves and blow up their lives.

It's naive, Hallmark cringe to just assume that parents know what's in the best interest of their children.

Do you remember being a child? I do. I knew everything and my parents were always wrong. And now that I'm a parent, I realize in retrospect that I actually did know everything! And that parents really are as confused, stressed, tired, and dubious in their judgments and pronouncements as I suspected!
