In a running race, never wear anything new, particularly if in a marathon. Do not buy clothes at an Expo and test them the next day. Test your race clothing during training runs--the longer the better--so that you know that they are as comfortable as they are fashionable.
Trailblazing her way from Hopkinton to Boston, Bobbi Gibb made history at the 1966 Boston Marathon. Jumping into the race near the start, Gibb covered all 26.2 miles and became the first woman to complete the Boston Marathon.
