The FIA WMSC has approved the introduction of new homologation and technical regulations for Rally6 cars, creating a more affordable and accessible entry point into competitive rallying 👏👏

With an estimated cost of €35,000 to €47,000, the new category aims to reduce financial barriers to participation, strengthen grassroots motor sport and provide a clear development pathway for the next generation of rally drivers 💪

Two new championships for the FIA WRC in 2027! 🏆

The FIA World Motor Sport Council has approved a new championship structure for 2027, with the Manufacturers’ Championship set to be replaced by two new titles:

The FIA WRC Constructors’ Championship: Constructors must compete in every round of the season to be eligible for the title 🌏

WRC Teams’ Championship: Contested over seven nominated events, including a compulsory overseas round and the season finale 👀

Both championships will be exclusive to the Rally1 category 🔥

Two specifications. One top category. 🔥

For the 2027 and 2028 seasons, the FIA World Rally Championship’s Rally1 category will comprise two types of cars:

🚗 WRC Cars: Next-generation rally cars built to the FIA’s new technical regulations.

🚗WRC Kit Cars: Existing Rally2 cars fitted with an FIA-approved aerodynamic upgrade kit.

Both specifications will compete together in the Rally1 category, with an increased turbo restrictor diameter delivering approximately 15hp of additional power.

LMGT3 Teams' Trophy points system updated for 2027 👀

Results from both cars will count towards a single LMGT3 Teams' classification next year. Currently, each car in a two-car team scores points independently as a separate entry. The revised format places greater emphasis on overall team performance.

The decision follows a comprehensive assessment of the current circumstances and associated challenges, while recognising the importance of ensuring the best possible organisational and operational conditions for all participants and relevant stakeholders.

As a result, Cyprus Rally, scheduled to take place from 23–25 October, will serve as the final round of the 2026 FIA Middle East Rally Championship 🇨🇾

The next generation of Cross-Country vehicles is taking shape! 🔥

The FIA has outlined its technical roadmaps for Ultimate 2030 and Challenger 2029, setting out the future of FIA Cross-Country competition.

The new regulations will focus on improved safety, reduced costs and greater technical flexibility, while strengthening the development pathway between Challenger and Ultimate.

The next-generation Challenger vehicles are set to become eligible for championship points from 2029, with the new Ultimate regulations becoming mandatory for factory drivers from 2030.
