We also find very little evidence that U.S. voters are concerned about the potential for entrapment in the US-SK alliance. Instead, the defense of SK is perceived as a national interest by a majority of respondents, even if Seoul (inadvertently) instigated the military crisis.
Do nuclear threats from US adversaries influence public support for US alliance partners? @Jeff_Berejikian and I investigate this question in a new article @Journal_of_GSS. Link: https://t.co/fM9oSr0O3h
Focusing on the US alliance with Seoul, we find that nuclear threats from North Korea sap some mass support for US military action in a military crisis. However, this effect can be effectively counter acted by Presidential rhetoric.
@AlbertsonB2 I have had some issues with Lucid in the past few weeks both in terms of data quality as well as basic survey mechanics (terminate link doesn’t work and it takes forever to get the issue resolved with them and finish the study).
so mturk deactivated my account because I've been inactive for too long. and now I can't sign up again? Welp...I guess my 2 survey research classes will be pleased to hear that they won't have to do any final projects this year.
Survey folks: I am trying to build a survey in which people navigate a closed information environment. The outcome variable would be what types of stories people click on to learn about a given policy. Does anybody have a template for how to code such a thing in Qualtrics?
I'm building my syllabus for next semester's class on survey experiments in political science. I'm trying to find a good reading / set of readings on treatment design. Do you all know of any good "how-to" articles / chapters?
@PolisciMonica It's a class on Political Psychology more broadly but the second half of the course is on experimental design and analysis. I am also teaching a survey research course specifically. I'd be happy to share the syllabus once I am done with it. That's next week's problem though :-)
@sgadarian @AlbertsonB2 thanks for the heads-up on this one too! I've been teaching this with chapters from "Anxious Politics" for the past few years 😀
@rdawkins22 Anne Applebaum has an awesome book (Twilight of Democracy) that could be discussion worthy for undergraduates. It's a short and easy read and it takes a more comparative perspective focusing on democratic decline among societal elites
