Construction site visit this morning with Brett for his SAE. He was installing firewall boards in the basement this morning. Brett also frames, pours concrete, and installs sheeting. Thank you Dan Eilerman Construction!

Today’s SAE visit was with Oscar at Maria Stein Grain in Houston. Oscar works in the feed mill and prepares rations in both bulk and bagged form for all species of livestock. Great experience!

Tuesday evening was the Junior Beef Show and is always a real busy time for our members. Absolutely outstanding job by everyone involved. (Sorry for missing a few of you with the camera, dad duties also called during this show)

The Market Rabbit Show is underway at the 2026 SCF and three of our members competed with their SAE projects. Rose, Madison, and Olivia all ended up in the same class. Great work ladies!

Swine production was the focus of this morning’s SAE visit with Katelyn. She works at her family’s farm, primarily in the farrowing house and gestation barn. Katelyn feeds sows, processes piglets, and has been pressure washing one of the finishing barns this week. Great project!

Let the 2026 Shelby County Fair begin! These 4 ladies represented our chapter by competing in the queen contest this evening after their afternoon interview. Great job ladies!

Evan was the last SAE visit for the day and he was already busy working on a roof repair at Gehret Farms. Evan said he really enjoys the variety of tasks and learning new skills, especially the building maintenance projects. Learning doesn’t stop when school is out!

This SAE visit with Beau was in Versailles as he was spending the day finishing the rough-in wiring of a new home construction with Boerger Electric. Beau was working on an outlet and moved to a conduit drop during the visit. Great opportunity to learn!

The second stop for today’s SAE visits was with Davis while he was working at Buschur Electric. Davis primarily works in the shop completing a variety of tasks including stripping wires, stocking supplies, engraving plates, and property maintenance. Another high quality SAE!

SAE visits today started with Wyatt where he was working in the dairy barn at Gehret Farms. This morning he was scraping the pads, cleaning waterers, and getting ready to mix TMR. Wyatt mentioned he enjoyed learning various skills that he will be able to take to his own farm.

This SAE project is in full swing as the county fair rapidly approaches. Rose will be exhibiting her market rabbits this year and has been feeding and watering them since birth. Rose plans to handle and work with her rabbits daily as we move closer to show day. Great work!

SAE Visits continued with Bailey recently as she was busy working with her dairy steer in preparation for the county fair. This guy is a tank! Bailey did mention she would like to trim up his mid section a bit and also laid out her plan for the next couple of weeks with her steer

One of this evenings SAE visits was with Olivia at her family’s farm. She is responsible for assisting with feeding bucket calves the family raises as well as caring for them up through market weight. I also viewed her 4-H market rabbits and dairy feeder calf. Great visit!

One of Oscar’s SAE’s is working at the Newport Sportsmen Club for their Tuesday evening league. He was busy loading throwers and preparing to keep everything running smoothly between squads. Another great experience!

This evening’s SAE visit was with Seth at the Newport Sportsmen Club for their Tuesday evening league. Seth gave me a great tour and filled me in on his tasks while working, primarily loading the throwers after each squad. Great work Seth!
