We are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and the Qualcomm Institute at the University of California San Diego.
A rare Tamil classic Ratha Kanneer (1954), directed by Krishnan-Panju & starring theatre legend M.R. Radha, has been added to the National Film Archive of India.
Aparna Subramaniam, Film Research Officer at @FTIIOfficial donated 8 jumbo reels (35mm) to @nfdcindia Managing Director Prakash Magdum in Pune, ensuring preservation of this culturally significant film.

We are delighted to share that Aparna Subramanian, Film Research Officer contributed to three panels at the annual conference of Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) in Baltimore, MD, USA from December 3-5. Aparna also serves as one of the Board of Directors at AMIA.
As part of the initiation towards future academic collaboration, Shri Dhiraj Mesharam, Dean (Film), FTII, and Ms. Keiko Mitsumatsu exchanged copies of the Letter of Intent (LoI).
FTII looks forward to strengthening this international academic partnership ahead.
FTII Pune had the honour of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts on 24th November 2025.
The delegation was led by Ms. Keiko Mitsumatsu, an acclaimed Production Designer and Professor in the Art Directing Course, known for her long-standing collaboration with director Hirokazu Kore-eda on films such as Monster, Our Little Sister, Nobody Knows and several others.
The document exchange was carried out by our VC Shri Dhiraj Singh, the Head of Strategy, Shri. Santosh Ojha and CTO, Vishnu Vaibhav Dwivedi the representative from IIT Bhilai.
This marks a significant step towards building future-ready creatives.
Today at FTII, a new partnership began.
FTII Pune and IIT Bhilai came together to sign a landmark MoU, strengthening collaboration in interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, technology, and innovation.
The partnership aims at combining and developing new-age technology with creative arts, and enabling the use of the latest software and cutting-edge solutions to enhance and assist creative learning and production.
