Rafael Kubelík is known for leading the CSO from 1950-1953 as its fifth music director, but why was his name chosen as a filming code for the third season of @TheBearFX? @WBEZ and @csoarchives Director Frank Villella sought to uncover the mystery.
Last November, Maestro Jakub Hrůša visited the music library and @CSOArchives, where he viewed historic scores of Martinů’s First Violin Concerto and Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra and Death and Transfiguration, all of which he conducts during his two-week March residency.
In between rehearsals for this week's program, Frank Villella, director of the CSOA's Rosenthal Archives, & Maestro Daniel Harding peruse the scores used by 2nd music director Frederick Stock for the 1920 US premiere of Holst's The Planets. @csoarchives@djharding
