You don't get to hijack Christianity. You are not it's founder and cannot impose doctrine contrary to those that affirm traditional teachings.
The main difference between Christians and others is that we take God seriously and they do not. We really do believe that He is the central reality of all existence.

The basic conviction of a Christian is that God intends good for us and that He will get His way in us.

“It is nearly as hard for a sinner to recognize the world's temptations as it is for a fish to discover impurities in the water.”

When John Piper became a pastor in 1980 (34yo) …
▪ 0 elder experience
▪ 0 hires/fires
▪ 0 experience with a church budget
▪ 0 baby dedications
▪ 0 hospital visitations
▪ 0 funerals
▪ 2 weddings
▪ 15 sermons preached
… Then 26 funerals in his first 78 weeks.
“So that’s the way it started. I created the bulletin. I led the service. I did one funeral every three weeks for a year and a half. Funeral after funeral after funeral. Which was one of the best things that happened, because when you do funerals and a hundred older people in this church are wondering if you give a hoot about them, and whether you are there just to take a stepping stone to teach in seminary, and you’re there for them every three weeks, not only on Sunday, but on Thursday afternoon, putting their friends in the ground, wonderful things happen. Wonderful things.”

Why does the ascension not get as much air time as the crucifixion and the resurrection?
Is it because it's weird?
But if the Gospels and epistles mention it (as well as the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed), does it not mean it's important?
Interesting thoughts as I read Exodus.
Exodus Begins with Pharaoh drowning Hebrew boy children in the Nile, and it ends with Pharaoh's army drowned by God.

Water is ambivalent in the Exodus story. The enemy makes his move with water, and the God who sits as King over the flood uses water in his final act. And the outcome of passing through water is determined by the one who stands under God's covenant.
