I can’t tell you which single fighting discipline is the absolute best.

But I can tell you it’s a grappling one.

Evidence: Every street fight video ever.

The crowd is more than happy to watch and cheer as people throw hands.

But the SECOND that shit hits the ground and someone starts landing ground-and-pound or locks in a choke, the crowd jumps in to stop it.

Grappling is so superior that even completely untrained bystanders recognize the disparity in force and feel compelled to intervene.

I completely get your point and agree with it. That being said i dont think its a valid argument. I’ve never seen any standing art consistently train for fighting multiple people either. This is just taking it to a ridiculous hypothetical were a standing art COULD perform better. Whenever people argue which is better its always in 1v1 context.
