@only_shans_@herecomsthesan i think it was less about women not having a voice and more about highlighting the extent of patriarchal family structure in korean culture and the detrimental effects of that patriarchal culture on individual people
@only_shans_@herecomsthesan i admit im biased cause disturbing stuff is a positive for me. as for lack of depth, i thought it was a social commentary on misogyny/domestic/work pressure/family culture in modern korean life, shining a light on stuff that happens irl prob more commonly than you’d think
@only_shans_@herecomsthesan marrying an equally abusive husband, and eventually all the unprocessed lifetime abuse plus continuing abuse piled up too much resulting in the mental break she had in the story, which you don’t really understand until the sisters pov lays it all out. i thought that was good
@only_shans_@herecomsthesan i can see that, i also wished we saw yeonghyes pov at some point, but what blew my mind was having her sisters pov in the last part, i finally understood shes the only sibling who didn’t have an outlet to process her dads abuse like her sis and brother did, so she ended up
@LUMIEREBELGE the blood (human) mixing in with the rust (the urban life) and the ugliness (grey/black) at the edges where they meet. some of the ugliness is now an inseparable part of the blood but its fading so perhaps... it might not be too late
