डॉ. एम. एस. स्वामीनाथन ने भारत में कृषि शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के बाद विश्व के प्रतिष्ठित संस्थानों—नीदरलैंड, इंग्लैंड और अमेरिका—में आनुवंशिकी एवं पादप प्रजनन के क्षेत्र में उच्च अध्ययन और शोध किया। वैश्विक अनुभव और वैज्ञानिक दृष्टि से समृद्ध होकर उन्होंने भारत लौटने का निर्णय लिया, ताकि अर्जित ज्ञान को भारतीय कृषि की चुनौतियों, किसानों की प्रगति और देश की खाद्य सुरक्षा के लिए समर्पित किया जा सके। भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थान (IARI) में उनके अनुसंधान और दूरदर्शी प्रयासों ने भारतीय कृषि को नई दिशा देने की मजबूत नींव रखी।

एक ओर किसान अपनी मेहनत लेकर खरीद केंद्र पहुँचता है। दूसरी ओर राष्ट्र को मिलता है खाद्य सुरक्षा का भरोसा।
FCI के खरीद केंद्र केवल खरीद की व्यवस्था नहीं हैं, बल्कि वे उस विश्वास का प्रतीक हैं जिसने 1965 से किसानों को उचित मूल्य और देश को सुरक्षित खाद्यान्न उपलब्ध कराने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है।

डॉ. एम. एस. स्वामीनाथन — वह दूरदर्शी वैज्ञानिक जिन्होंने भारत की खाद्य आत्मनिर्भरता को नई दिशा दी।🌾

7 अगस्त 1925 को कुंभकोणम (तत्कालीन मद्रास प्रेसीडेंसी) में जन्मे डॉ. एम. एस. स्वामीनाथन ने प्राणिविज्ञान से अपनी उच्च शिक्षा आरंभ की। लेकिन 1943 के बंगाल अकाल और देश में खाद्यान्न की कमी ने उन्हें कृषि विज्ञान के माध्यम से भारत को खाद्यान्न के क्षेत्र में आत्मनिर्भर बनाने का संकल्प लेने के लिए प्रेरित किया।

उच्च उपज वाली फसल किस्मों के विकास और हरित क्रांति को गति देने में उनके योगदान ने भारत की खाद्य सुरक्षा की सुदृढ़ नींव रखी।

यह श्रृंखला ऐसे ही प्रेरक व्यक्तित्वों और ऐतिहासिक उपलब्धियों को समर्पित है, जिन्होंने भारत की खाद्य आत्मनिर्भरता की यात्रा को आकार दिया।
