Marissa is an elementary teacher.
She's constantly rationing basic supplies, like paper and pencils.
The govt's $750 supplies card won't fix that, as it cuts into existing classroom funding – and does nothing to address the $6.4 billion in chronic underfunding facing #OntEd.
NEW: Ontario’s education unions are officially serving notice to bargain today.
Among their demands:
• smaller class sizes (capped at 24 students for grades 4-8, and 26 for kindergarten)
• ending mandatory e-learning for high school students
• spec ed investments
#OECTA First Vice-President @LLLacaria urges the govt to come to the table ready to bargain.
Ready to move beyond the posturing and politics.
Ready to focus on the real issues impacting #OntEd students, #CatholicTeachers, and Ontario's 255,000+ teachers and education workers.
MEDIA ADVISORY: Education Unions to Hold Press Conference to Provide Update on Collective Bargaining

As the Ford govt continues to underfund #OntEd, students with the highest needs are seeing the supports and programs they rely on to learn being trimmed to balance shrinking school board budgets.

#CatholicTeachers know each #OntEd community is unique. As Windsor-Essex UP Adriana Palamides explains, using EQAO data to judge student learning compounds systemic inequities and reduces trust in schools already facing disadvantages.

I delegated @DPCDSBSchools last night in support of flying the Pride flag. Before the meeting even started the police had to called in. In what has to be one of the most disgraceful outcomes for a Catholic Board I've seen in a long time, the motion to fly the Pride flag outside the board office and schools did not even receive a 2nd and so was not voted on. A second motion to allow the indigenous flag to fly every day as requested by our indigenous community received the same disrespectful treatment. TY @breacorbet for being the lone voice in support of students and staff
From larger class sizes to increased violence in schools, #OntEd communities continue to feel the impact of provincial funding cuts. #CatholicTeachers thank @OntarioGreens leader @MikeSchreiner for hosting an impactful education town hall!

The TDSB is set to lose $6.4M in special education funding next year amid declining enrolment.
"We're in trouble" warn advocates, who say boards are already stretched thin & spending beyond provincial allocations to meet students’ needs. cc: @GabeOatley https://t.co/0BVFESdp0g
Extreme heat is a health & safety issue for students, teachers, and all those working & learning in our schools.
First VP @LLLacaria joined @OSSTF, @ETFOeducators, and Parents for Childcare at Queen's Park to support the @OntarioNDP's call for safer temperatures across #OntEd!

#CatholicTeachers joined fellow #CLC2026 in the streets of Winnipeg to rally together for a worker-centered strategy that protects stable union jobs in Canada! #CanLab
Sat down with teacher and education workers and union leaders in Winnipeg. Thank you to OECTA, OSSTF, and NUCAUT for the conversation, and to all teachers and education workers for the incredible work they do every day.
We all have had teachers that have changed our lives in so many ways, I’m thankful for all the teachers who have influenced my life. Teaching is a respected profession, and our teachers are central to our communities.
We have officially passed the halfway point of #CLC2026, but our advocacy and engagement are just getting started! #CatholicTeachers thank all our delegates for their hard work so far, in support of labour workers across Canada!
