Next time you do your weekly food shop, take a close look at the fresh produce aisle. Everyday staples in your basket—especially fresh avocados, dates, citrus, and herbs sitting on the shelves of major chains like Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons—carry a high likelihood of originating from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied territories.
​It sounds unbelievable that major British supermarkets openly stock produce plundered from occupied land without facing domestic criminal penalties. But occupation is a business, and UK trade policy allows commercial importers to cash in completely scot-free.
​While Whitehall admits settlements in occupied territory are illegal under international law, buying and selling settlement produce has never been made a crime in UK domestic law. By refusing to pass a statutory import ban, the government has essentially decriminalised this trade in practice. Commercial importers face zero criminal liability, and UK Border Force couldn't seize illegal settlement cargo at British ports even if it wanted to.
​Instead, produce harvested across illegal settlements in the occupied Jordan Valley is routinely driven across the Green Line into packing plants in 1948-occupied territory, where it is repackaged for UK supermarket shelves disguised as supermarket own-brands.
​Pressure is now boiling over. Over 140 Labour MPs have demanded a full trade ban ahead of the party conference, as settlement expansion and violent land grabs accelerate across the West Bank. Yet while European allies like Spain have already banned settlement goods and arms sales, Whitehall officials and lobby groups like Labour Friends of Israel continue to resist—arguing that targeted bans risk a wider boycott.
​In response to state inaction, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign is escalating direct action with an intensified national supermarket boycott, demanding full boycott and institutional pension divestment. It is time to bring the core tactics of the BDS movement—Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions—straight to Britain’s high streets.

🇺🇦 Olha Yehorova, a weightlifter and a fitness trainer joined army on February 24, 2022.

She underwent training, became a riflewoman, and fought on some of the toughest sectors of the front—in the Serebryanskyi Forest, near Chasiv Yar, in the direction of Kupiansk, and in the Donetsk region.

In 2023, she was struck in the abdomen by shrapnel from a mortar shell. She underwent surgery, recovered, and returned to the front just four months later.
She was wounded again. Yet, she returned.

And in February 2025, despite her injuries, this remarkable woman climbed Mount Kilimanjaro—rising 5,895 meters above sea level—and planted the Ukrainian flag at its summit.

This is being briefed as if it's unions opposing donations caps and that's why Burnham has caved on his promises to cap political donations at £500k.

But we've literally JUST SEEN Burnham's donations disclosures, which are not even mentioned in this article.

They show Burnham getting a pittance from unions but substantial donations from Gary Lubner (£25k) and Lord Sainsbury (over £160k) to support his Labour leadership bid. Lubner and Sainsbury were two of the biggest previous funders of Labour Together and the Starmer projects, who both personally made donations in the millions to Labour Together and/or the Labour Party.

Burnham made his promise to cap donations at £500k to an activist in May this year. And then in June and July he gets bankrolled by the types of mega-donors who would be impacted by a donations cap, limiting their ability to influence politics. Then he drops the proposals that would impact on his personal donors. Deeply disappointing and really hard not to join these dots.
