What’s happening in Iran right now?

The most hardline elements of the Paydari Front, including figures close to Saeed Jalili such as Hamid Rasaei, Mahmoud Nabavian, and Amir-Hossein Sabeti, are strongly opposed to the proposed deal with the US and view it as a betrayal of Iran’s interests.

They argue that the negotiating team, particularly Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has crossed Iran’s red lines and made excessive concessions, especially in the aftermath of the assassination of key political and military leaders. Several hardline figures have publicly demanded the resignation of members of the negotiating team, accusing them of surrendering strategic leverage in exchange for a weak deal.

Among the more radical voices, some have gone even further, promoting conspiracy theories that the new Supreme Leader is effectively being controlled or “held captive” by those pushing for negotiations.

These factions are now attempting to mobilize their supporters, increase public pressure, and use every available political tool to block, delay, or undermine any potential agreement.

BREAKING: Iranian MP Mahmoud Nabavian says the draft framework under discussion states that U.S. military forces would withdraw from the region within 30 days of a final agreement being signed, though he argued the scope and details of any withdrawal should be clarified.

Separately, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Iran intends to charge service fees for transit through the Strait of Hormuz and reiterated Tehran’s position that foreign military bases and forces should eventually leave the region.

❗️Nabavian: The next point I want to tell is much more upsetting.

I will read the text:

“By signing the memorandum of understanding…”

“…the Islamic Republic of Iran will immediately…”

So it does not need negotiation either.

“…take arrangements, with its maximum effort, so that the movement of commercial ships…”

Meaning commercial ships belonging to any country.

“…from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and vice versa is reopened.”

So this is about making arrangements, not our (Iran’s) management/control.

Some people are telling the media this means “Iranian management arrangements,” but where did you get that from? Show me where this says in the draft?!

“…in such a way that, considering the need to remove technical and military obstacles and demining by the Islamic Republic of Iran…”

Meaning we ourselves proposed this — all of this is also our responsibility.

“…within 30 days, safe and UNLIMITED passage…”

This phrase “unlimited” was not in the previous versions. They (the Americans) sent the draft to us, saying this word must be added. It has nailed the matter down. It leaves almost no room for us to exercise management/control.

The word “unlimited” was added later, meaning safe and unlimited passage for all countries.

They use a kind of sophistry and say: “What are you talking about? The IRGC is managing it.”

Dude, what are you saying? Did I say that right now the honorable IRGC is not standing there powerfully and exercising management? It is.

But once Iran signs it, the IRGC would have to step back. If officials claim the text has changed, they should show the exact wording.

Andy Burnham always defends his record on the Pakistani rape gangs, which have been convicted in six of Greater Manchester's ten boroughs.

But despite all the inquiries Andy commissioned, he has never used his powers as Mayor and Police and Crime Commissioner to hold complicit police officers to account.

Burnham supports the Labour government's new limited local inquiries, supervised by Baroness Anne Longfield — who sought to reward Sue Berelowitz for blaming white men for grooming gangs in 2012.

Some Iranians gathered outside the Foreign Ministry chanting “Death to Araghchi, the dishonorable compromiser.”

- At this stage, it is difficult to know who organized the protest. However, it would not be surprising if hardline circles, including elements close to the Paydari camp, were behind it.

- What is striking is that these reactions are based largely on media leaks and speculation. The text of any potential agreement has not been officially published yet, making opposition to it as much about narratives and expectations as about the actual contents of the deal.
