On exclusives, XBOX says live services and MP games will remain multi-platform
XBOX also says it will be a "case by case" basis on which titles are exclusive
"My mandate is not 30% accountability margins, it’s not enterprise software margins, it’s to be the number one gaming and entertainment company, and what’s what we’re going to go do.” - Xbox CEO @asha_shar at Bloomberg Tech live
I agree with this 100% I don’t think it should be one universal rule for exclusive titles it should be a case by case basis. Common W for Mrs Xbox (is that a good nickname?)
XBOX CEO on exclusives:
'It's tough topic ... I think we have to be very thoughtful about each title and how we want to think about it, and learn from similar cases in the industry'
They never learn.
Your target audience is mostly men. Men want to play as men not women (unless their hot which we know you hate). we are SICK of seeing our favorite characters being replaced for diversity quotas.
Just stop already.
A new report has revealed a heated debate inside Valve over pornographic games on Steam.
According to former employees, Valve’s top lawyer suggested the company take a stronger role in moderating adult content on the platform.
Gabe Newell reportedly disagreed, saying, “What the f*** do I pay you for if that’s your opinion?”
The quote comes from accounts shared by former employees and has not been publicly confirmed by Valve.
If this is true, Gabe Newell is even more based.
Hot take! If steam is a monopoly what’s the problem with that? Or anyone for that matter? As long as they aren’t taking advantage of that position and making harsh prices on consumers then what’s the issue?
Valve co-founder Gabe Newell responded to accusations that Steam operates as a monopoly in the PC gaming market
Addressing the criticism, Newell said gamers have “plenty of options” when buying games.
According to him, players can choose from many digital stores, including rival platforms and stores run by game publishers themselves.
Valve says Steam’s success comes from a service that both gamers and developers willingly choose.
This is a very difficult situation. You shouldn’t make game exclusive just for the sake of making them exclusive, if you made 2-3x the profit from selling a game on all platforms compared to just your own then it’s clear that exclusivity is not the answer and a poor choice.
Despite reportedly “rethinking exclusivity” and making exclusives a major topic on Player’s Voice, Xbox has confirmed it will continue showing PlayStation logos during next week’s Xbox Showcase for games also releasing on PS5.
Xbox has previously said it wants to be “transparent” about where games are available, which is why platform logos for PlayStation, Nintendo, and Steam continue to appear during its presentations.
