I have similar reflections on my archival work with fan edits. I preserve these misunderstood and often endangered experimental works in case people in media studies eventually give them more attention.
Amid relentless presentism and amnesia it seems funny to be reassembling and scanning moving images from the 1930s-70s, but I have faith that someone in the future will find usefulness and urgency in the archives, that's to say if the archives survive anthropogenic calamities.
