Follow us @footpath_india Save footpaths to make our voice stronger for better India
Footpaths are for pedestrians—not for parking, vending, dumping, urination, or other obstructions.
When footpaths are encroached or converted into unsafe spaces, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and all pedestrians are forced onto busy roads, risking their lives.
Public walkways must remain clean, accessible, and safe. Food businesses operating without required permissions or hygiene standards should be addressed according to the law, and public spaces should not be occupied illegally.
Safe footpaths mean safer cities.

Removing food carts from footpaths and streets can help reduce littering, improve pedestrian safety, and create cleaner public spaces.
Footpaths are meant for walking—not for commercial occupation.

Karnataka Transport Minister @byrathi_suresh travelled incognito on 10+ BMTC buses.across Bengaluru for 2 hours wearing a mask to inspect services firsthand.
He suspended a driver and conductor after a bus failed to stop for passengers. In another bus, a conductor asked him to get down for not having change. He also flagged an auto driver for demanding Rs 36 instead of the Rs 30 meter fare @BMTC_BENGALURU

@INCIndia You are wrong.
During 2024
2,385 persons killed due to Potholes
but
1,18,817 persons killed on Straight Road.
Potholes, encroachment serve as Traffic Calming.
Close on the heels of Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda leading the operation against footpath encroachment from the front in Bengaluru, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has launched Operation Footpath, by removing the encroachment of footpath space on KRS road, coming under the jurisdiction of its Zone 4 and 5 offices.
The drive which was undertaken on the second consecutive day today, after it was launched yesterday on the same KRS road, targeted the encroachments on a stretch of road from Jayadeva Hospital junction to the entrance of Brindavan Extension, located near the statue of a Bull, coming under Zone-5. The carts selling chaat items, tea shops, bamboo stalls, hotels among others were cleared during the drive yesterday.
MCC gangmen along with earth moving vehicles removed the encroachments, besides seizing the articles and materials, as the vendors resisted the drive.
From the Outer-Ring Road (ORR) junction of KRS road to Hebbal main road arch, the petty shops on either side of the road were cleared, with the help of earth moving vehicles. The push carts and illegal hoardings, bill boards and other publicity materials also bore the brunt of the operation.
Less than 10% hawkers on main roads control financial transactions including hafta to connected people.@THBengaluru has to check the legitimacy of their news.
These folks always jeopardize changes, regulate hawkers and vendors. Similar to vegetable market have a hawker market where they can sell and earn money. Thswill free footpaths enable livelihood. Reduces hafta's @footpath_india
Once footpath is clean from encroachments, garbage issue can be tackled. Garbage littering is due to lack of civic sense. Dumping waste without thinking of the environment. Let people start change to less consumption and zero waste by discarding single use plastics at their homes. Start focusing on neighbourhood cleanliness instead of caste creed and groupism for personal benefits.
Abandoned vehicle is a bigger issue
or
Abandoned Garbage is the real issue.
Somehow I feel how smartly the real issues of Bangalore are being sidelined everyone can understand.
Garbage is such a huge issue.
Traffic is such a major pain
Than never forget potholes and waterlogging...
For every problem, blaming street vendors and Abandoned vehicles is not the solution.
You need to identify the issue and fix the issue....
This is the problem... Earlier corporators and MLA supported this bunch of street vendors for votes putting Bengaluru in shame leading to traffic congestion and flooding. Even @GBA_office should remove obstructions such as urinals on footpath. Clean footpaths will not choke drains.
Another TN migrant says she’s illegally occupying footpaths of Bengaluru for over 30 years.
She is demanding answers from GoK rather than her home state!
Wow…
This video will show the danger a pedestrian face every day ! This is exactly why we need #FreeTheFootpath drive. Bengalurians are lucky to have @krishnabgowda who is so pro active
