A routine call quickly turned into a lifesaving rescue!
On Friday, June 12, 2026, around 12:05 p.m., Fort Worth Police officers responded to a report of a missing child near Dream Park.
As officers searched the area, one officer spotted something yellow sticking up from the weeds near the water. When they moved closer, they discovered the child partially submerged along the shoreline.
As officers approached, the child appeared disoriented and began moving farther into the water, at times going under the surface. Without hesitation, one of our officers entered the water and safely brought the child to shore before the situation could become even more dangerous.
The child was evaluated by Fort Worth Fire Department as a precaution and is safe.
This is a reminder that sometimes the difference between tragedy and relief is measured in seconds.

On May 26, 2026, the Fort Worth Police Department shared the attached graphic on a social media post seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a shooting investigation. The shooting occurred at the White Water Express Car Wash located at 8301 N. Beach Street, reference report 260037415.
The individual pictured in the post is not a suspect and should not have been identified or labeled as such. After further investigation, detectives determined the individual was not involved in the offense.
We recognize the seriousness of publicly identifying someone as a suspect in a criminal investigation, and the post has been removed. The department is taking steps to ensure better review procedures for future public identifications.
We ask that any previously shared versions of the post be removed.
The Steel Across America Tour made its stop at Billy Bob's of Texas in Fort Worth today, bringing an authentic steel beam from the World Trade Center wreckage of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. This nationwide campaign runs from May through September 2026, visiting landmark locations and creating moments of connection for those who lived through 9/11. It also serves as an educational opportunity for those too young to remember.
The Fort Worth Police Department was honored to be a part of the services today, honoring those who gave all on that fateful day. @Tunnel2Towers

Recently, a former FWPD officer reached out to our Fort Worth Cops for Kids to tell us about his neighbor, Emma. Since the age of three, Emma has dreamed of becoming a police officer. The now 7-year-old Emma, recently began chemotherapy for treatment for lymphoblastic leukemia. Knowing she needed support, we arranged for a group of our female officers to surprise her.
Officers Oleksy, Castro, Espinoza, St. Clair, Bel Haddad and our Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) K9 Echo visited Emma in her room, bringing along a police Build-A-Bear for her! Though initially shy, Emma lit up with a big smile when she saw K9 Echo, who rested her head on the hospital bed, comforting Emma and helping her open up.
Her parents expressed that they had not seen her smile like that in weeks, and that the moment left a lasting impact on the entire family.
Your Fort Worth Police Department family is standing behind you, future Officer Emma! Keep fighting hard!
