A new home for the Forum Annual Conference: Welcoming you to THE EGG

After many memorable years at the Square Meeting Centre, the Forum for the Future of Agriculture is excited to announce a new venue for its milestone 20th Annual Conference: THE EGG, in the heart of Brussels.

Housed in a striking New York-style former industrial building near Brussels-South station, THE EGG offers over 5,000 m² of flexible, modular space including a flexible auditorium, multiple meeting rooms, exhibition spaces and large multipurpose halls - giving the Forum room to grow its conference, exhibition and networking programme in one adaptable setting.

The move also strengthens the Forum's sustainability credentials: THE EGG holds the Ecodynamic label and Green Key certification and 95% of its guests already choose to arrive by public transport, thanks to its location right by Brussels-South train station including access to the Eurostar terminal - making it easier than ever for delegates travelling from across Europe to reach the venue by rail. The venue's central location also keeps the Forum close to the European Quarter.

As the Forum for the Future of Agriculture marks 20 years of leading the conversation on sustainable agriculture, THE EGG provides a fitting new stage: modern, sustainable, and built for the kind of open, cross-sector dialogue the Forum has always championed.

In the latest edition of the #FoodSystems podcast, speaking during an interview at this year's Forum for the Future of Agriculture Annual Conference, Alex Turk talks to Cristina Bruce, Senior Vice President for Sustainability and Social Impact at Anglo American.

Cristina discussed the company's focus on sustainable agriculture and the development of polyhalite resources in the North of England. She highlighted the importance of innovation in fertilizer products to address global food security and soil health challenges. With the cost of fertilizer being impacted by the Middle East conflict, this is a timely reminder of alternative sources.

In the latest Food Systems Podcast episode, Michael Werz, Senior Fellow, Council on Foreign Relations, discusses how global instability, conflict and climate change are making resilient food systems central to future geopolitical stability.

Speaking with guest presenter Mark Titterington, he warns that food is increasingly being weaponized in conflicts and that fragile supply chains, export restrictions, and fertilizer dependencies threaten global security.

Michael calls for stronger multilateral cooperation, greater leadership from Global South nations, and urgent reforms to trade, agricultural policy, and food governance to build a more resilient and equitable global food system.

How do we reframe the concept of food security and tackle the “weaponization” of food? This was the theme of Michael Werz’s inspirational talk at the #ForumforAg Annual Conference.

Mr Werz explained his organization’s mission. “People need to finally understand that food security is not exclusively a humanitarian issue, that it is in the midst of a geopolitical tectonic shift. We need to change our approach, the ways we talk about food security, the concepts we use, and the strategic outlook that is associated with the impact that food security has on the globe,” he said.
