Meta is turning rural Louisiana into the center of one of the biggest AI projects on Earth. The company is expanding its Richland Parish data center to 5 gigawatts of compute capacity and says its total investment in the region now tops $50 billion. The project is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs, invest another $1 billion in local roads and water infrastructure, and Meta says Louisiana businesses have already secured more than $1.6 billion in contracts since construction began in late 2024. The local impact is already showing. Teachers in Richland Parish recently received annual bonuses of more than $50,000, fueled by increased tax revenue tied to the massive development. Parish leaders say the higher pay is also helping attract stronger teacher candidates.

Apple is accusing OpenAI of telling Apple employees interviewing for jobs at the artificial intelligence giant to bring confidential prototypes, engineering documents, and even hardware components to interviews. In a sweeping federal trade secrets lawsuit, Apple claims candidates were asked to bring "CAD/design artifacts," "prototypes" and "actual parts" for technical "show and tell" sessions. Apple alleges the recruiting practices were part of a broader effort to obtain its trade secrets as OpenAI races to develop its own consumer hardware. The company also says OpenAI now employs more than 400 former Apple workers, including engineers involved in hardware development. OpenAI did not immediately respond to FOX Business' request for comment.
