Growing up has taught me that kindness is not weakness. Showing up, appreciating people, forgiving, supporting people and treating people with care costs very little. But the absence of those things can leave scars that last a lifetime.
Don’t ruin something that is sacred to someone else. A moment, a memory, a place, a relationship. You may see it as something small, but it could be one of the few beautiful things they have left to hold onto.
When someone makes time for you, understand what that means. We’re all busy. So when someone chooses to show up for you, don’t treat their effort like it was nothing.
Never take people’s kindness for granted. That small favour, that check-in, that little act of love might have meant more to them than you’ll ever know. Appreciate people while they’re still around.
20-30 will humble you like crazy.
Friend circles get smaller. Your parents are getting older right in front of you. You’re fixing old mistakes while trying to get your career, money, health and head right at the same time.
Life starts feeling REAL around this age.
It’s a lot, but you learn, grow and keep pushing.
One thing about Nigerian creatives: we’ll complain about the industry, complain about the economy, complain about lack of opportunities… then somehow still wake up and create tomorrow. That resilience is crazy.
