The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has had 4 YEARS to act on Melisa Lucio’s case. What are they waiting for?

We could not let today pass without wishing Melissa a happy birthday. 🎈
It is shameful that she needs to spend another birthday in prison and we hope that by this time next year, she is out here celebrating with all who love her.
“All we need is a little water, blessed by love and hope, to help us break through once more. Then, we will take our rightful place in the sun, moon, and rain. The winds of the four directions will carry forward our prayers, our drumbeats, our songs, and chants for freedom and justice—for everyone, everywhere.“
All of us at FADP are celebrating the life of Human Rights Leader Magdaleno “Leno” Rose-Avila. We remember his advocacy, his wisdom and will carry the legacy for everyone everywhere. Big jalapeño love!
We wish mothers everywhere a very Happy Mother’s Day.
And for the mothers carrying a burden few can truly understand — mothers living on death row, and mothers fiercely advocating for a child condemned to death — we see you.
The Trump administration is trying to push through a rule that would allow states to speed up the appeals process and rush executions forward. Here's how you can help.💨🧵
We’re heartbroken to share that Sandra Reed, mother of Rodney Reed, has passed away. This news came just weeks after we learned that the US Supreme Court ruled against Rodney Reed in his multi-decade struggle to get DNA testing the could exculpate him in the murder of Stacey Stites.
For three decades, Sandra stood by her son through this nightmare. She never gave up on him—not once. And neither can we.

The Trump administration has proposed a new rule giving the US Attorney General power to rubber-stamp state applications to fast-track executions—gutting safeguards and limiting federal appeals.
This is reckless. This is dangerous. People who should NOT be eligible for execution will die because of this.

“Four years ago on Saturday, Melissa Lucio was two days from execution,” Bonowitz said in a statement. “She is innocent. There was no crime. Why is Melissa Lucio still on Texas death row? There is no acceptable answer.”

Since then, the TCCA has dragged its feet, leaving Melissa waiting — unjustly — for freedom that should have come long ago.
Now, Melissa’s legal team has filed a Motion to Expedite.
It’s time for Texas to act. https://t.co/fuLAH9hrlT
For nearly three years we’ve waited and watched the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals weekly release of their decisions — hoping this will be the week they finally set Melissa Lucio free.
Months after her stay, Cameron County DA Luis Saenz finally admitted the deep failures in her case and agreed with Melissa’s legal team to recommend that her conviction be overturned.
That was in December 2022.
On #WrongfulConvictionDay, we remember that innocence is not enough to stop an ex*cution in America.💔
This month, 3 innocent men — Lance Shockley(MO), Robert Roberson(TX), and Anthony Boyd(AL) — face the ☠️ chamber.

Dozens of U.S. military veterans🪖 have been executed on de@th row, many carrying unseen wounds of war: PTSD, brain injuries, trauma. Veterans represent about 10% of those condemned to de@th in the US.💔
Instead of care, they got condemnation. That's NOT just!ce! ❌
Pope Leo XIV calls on us to be "ever attentive to the cry of the poor, the needy, and the marginalized”. That is what we intend to continue to do.
