Today, the Embassy of Cuba laid a wreath at Freedom Park’s Wall of Names to commemorate the Centenary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and honour Cuban international fighters who fell on African soil.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Sunday, 09 August 2026, deliver the keynote address at the 2026 National Women’s Day commemoration event in Union Buildings, Pretoria.
The commemoration will be held under the theme: “Empowered Women Empower The Nation” and will be used to pay tribute to the women of 1956 who fought for human rights, gender equality and social justice.

This morning, the ANC Women’s League and Deputy Minister Peace Mabe, laid seven wreaths at Freedom Park's Wall of Names, commemorating seven decades since the 1956 Women’s March.
