This is not abstract — it’s real. We are in contact with U.S. journalists, naturalized citizens, who live with the fear that a single word of criticism against Israel could be used as grounds to strip them of their right to remain in the country.

Vi inviterer alle våre norske kolleger til å slutte seg til oppropet. For hver dag som går øker vår legitimitet, og med den vår samlede styrke til å få adgang til Gaza. https://t.co/mK8KBAFcor
Today we met with the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, @EspenBarthEide , to request his support in putting political pressure on the Israeli government to allow journalists to enter Gaza.
The Minister expressed his support, acknowledged that this is a crucial issue, and committed himself to helping advance this cause. We welcome his engagement and commitment.
We now call on other Ministers of Foreign Affairs to join our demand, and to put pressure on Israel to open Gaza’s borders to foreign journalists. Free and independent press access is essential to ensure transparency, accountability, and the right of the world to know the truth.
Today in Norway, we, the signatories of Freedom to Report, will meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs @EspenBarthEide to deliver our letter calling for foreign press access to Gaza.
Our shared goal is to meet with foreign ministers in every country where our petition has signatories, building the diplomatic pressure needed to open Gaza’s gates to the international press without further delay.
With foreign media barred, Palestinians have reported alone, facing the ‘most deliberate effort to kill and silence’ them ever. https://t.co/sdJT4QGdzu
131 journalists from Israel have issued a public call for solidarity with journalists in Gaza,
demanding an immediate halt to the killing of journalists; an independent investigation
into the killings; free access to Gaza for independent coverage; responsible, fact-based
reporting by Israeli media on war crimes being committed in the Strip; and an immediate
end to the war that would also enable the release of hostages as part of a comprehensive
deal.
We, the 1,500+ signatories of #FreedomToReport, stand united in support of this initiative.

So, just to be clear: you are confirming that Israel is deliberately blocking the media from entering Gaza? That the Israeli government and its spokespersons are lying when they claim otherwise? And that you support this policy and are prepared to publicly defend it, as you are doing now?
Coherence matters. The world, and those calling for justice, Palestinians and Israelis alike, must be able to clearly understand what is truly happening, based on the actions of those in power.
Sorry, you’re not the first to post this on our profile. I’ll share the last response I gave—please consider it the official one and help spread the word:
“If you think this is a conspiracy against Israel, you’re free to believe whatever you like, and no one is here to change your mind. But since you trust your government so faithfully, why not support journalists in gaining independent access to Gaza?
Once inside, journalists will be able to see the truth for themselves. And if the truth is really what you already know, then what’s the problem?
Please, read our petition at https://t.co/gfj7sFFrGg.
Our demands are not just upon Israel. We have demanded confirmation from Hamas that, once in Gaza, we would be able to work independently. For us, both the Israeli government and Hamas must allow journalists to do their jobs freely. The world has the right to know what is truly happening to innocent Palestinians and Israelis in Gaza, but we must be there to report it.
So, will you help us spread the word?”
Oh, you think this is a conspiracy against Israel? Sorry, I must have missed that. You’re free to believe whatever you like, and no one is here to change your mind. But since you trust your government so faithfully, why not support journalists in gaining independent access to Gaza?

From the BBC - Israel struck Nasser Hospital at least four times during its deadly attack in southern Gaza on Monday, an analysis of new video footage by BBC Verify has found. The attack, which has attracted international condemnation and widespread anger, reportedly killed at least 20 people, including five journalists. Initial reports from Gaza said that Israel had struck the hospital twice, with the first blast followed nine minutes later by another which hit first responders and journalists who arrived at the scene. But new analysis suggests the hospital was struck four times in total.

This is deadly serious. Israel knew exactly where the journalists were. Even if a surveillance camera was there (which is not a legal reason to bomb a hospital), Israel could have warned Reuters, who would have told the journalists to leave.
We trust Reuters shared their location in good faith, believing it would protect them—not mark them for death. The double-tap strike makes it worse: Israel had their position and still targeted them.
If Reuters stops giving info to the IDF, it means even Reuters knows journalists are being deliberately killed.
We demand accountability and unrestricted access for foreign media in Gaza. Innocents must not keep dying. The truth must come out.
The Freedom to Report petition should never have been necessary. Anyone who bars journalists from a conflict zone does so to hide the truth. By blocking our entry—while Gazan journalists are hunted down and killed—the oppressor corrodes the global right to information, and with it, the very foundation of democracy.
This absurdity can only be met with collective resolve. Reason must thunder louder than silence.
Sign the petition.

Answer these questions?
1. Does the IDF use raw geographical location as a criterion to determine its targets?
2. Are hospitals operating in Hamas-controlled areas considered legitimate targets?
3. Did the IDF apply this criterion when striking the Nasser Hospital and killing five journalists in a double-tap attack?
After engaging with our profile, Israel’s spokesperson @EylonALevy stated: “Any journalists in Hamas territory, local or international, are essentially on a Hamas military embed.”
In plain words: Israel is openly threatening to treat both local and foreign journalists in Gaza as legitimate targets.
This is not rhetoric. This is a direct, chilling warning to the free press.
