Cleveland author John “Derf” Backderf’s new graphic novel, “The Dissidents,” shares true stories from political cartoonists and journalists living under authoritarianism in the early 20th century. Backderf says that it is a mirror to society and, unfortunately, relevant today.
This 300+ page graphic novel will be released in September.

“Tales of Euclid Beach Park” brings music, dance, and history to the center stage! 🎠🎶
Chris Neiner and the musicians from Stars in the Classics will perform a composition inspired by Euclid Beach Park, a beloved Cleveland amusement park that operated from 1895 to 1969.
This event takes place at The Western Reserve Historical Society’s Cleveland History Center tomorrow from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A new mural takes root, helping South Euclid “Grow Together.” 🌼🎨
@OneSouthEuclid, a community development organization, brings color and community to downtown South Euclid through their new mural, which is now designated as a city landmark.
Local artist Olivia Oltmanns painted “Grow Together” on a wall of 2 You Wines in Marc’s Plaza. The goal of this mural and other One South Euclid events, like the 2026 South Euclid Food Truck Park series and "Recess Rewind," is to create visible community engagement.

The historic streetcar level of the Veterans Memorial Bridge is open for a public walkthrough this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hosted by @canalwaycle's Cleveland History Days series, this beloved event annually draws in thousands of people who are interested in seeing this 1917 bridge. To celebrate @America250, there is a Picnic in the Park event just under the bridge for attendees to check out.

This Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., @canalwaycle hosts Picnic in the Park, a community picnic at Canal Basin Park celebrating @America250 and Ohio’s rich history.

Experience three unique exhibitions at The Sculpture Center exploring memory, place, and the invisible forces of life. 👤🏛️🌟
At The Sculpture Center in Cleveland, work by artists Noelle Choy, Jacklyn Brickman, and Malena Grigoli will be featured starting tomorrow.
“Adventurers” by Choy explores biographical fiction and how objects hold memories. Brickman’s “ARRIS” reflects on the relationship between humans, plants, and places. Finally, “Genesis 1:29” by Grigoli animates material from the history of 12210 Euclid Ave, where The Sculpture Center is located.

The 34th annual Parade the Circle was a huge success! 🎉🩵
Last Saturday, tens of thousands of spectators enjoyed @ClevelandArt's Parade the Circle, which showcased dazzling costumes and giant puppets correlating to the theme of “Momentum.”
Unlike last year (which had to get postponed), this year’s Parade the Circle had beautiful weather, much to the pleasure of the 1,500+ artists, participants, and volunteers that made this event possible.

Students at Willson School painted six rain barrels for St. Casimir Parish Church on Sowinski Avenue, just around the corner from the school.
This lesson educated students on how to reduce runoff that can contaminate Northeast Ohio’s precious freshwater resources. Students had lots of fun with this community project as they incorporated themes of faith, nature, and conservation into their rain barrel designs.

“Pints & Ponytails” teaches dads essential hair styling tips so they can do their daughters’ hair with confidence! 👧🎀
At @StoneWaterGC, @LaBarberiaCLE will lead a hands-on hairstyling tutorial from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23rd to teach dads how to do ponytails, braids, and pigtails.
This first-ever “Pints & Ponytails” event will prepare fathers to do their daughters' hair and will help them connect with other fathers. Participants will get dinner, one free drink, a goody bag, and a golf discount!

Fashion swept Downtown Cleveland at “The Runway Event.” 🏙️👠
On Sunday, June 7th, Euclid Avenue shut down so fashion students and emerging talents showcased their pieces on the runway under the chandelier in Playhouse Square.
“The Runway Event” highlighted designs from across the globe and was presented by Fashion Talks Foundation. The goal of this event was to uplift the next generation of designers, entrepreneurs, and creatives.

Musicians at the Larchmere PorchFest traded in the main stage for intimate front yard venues. 🏠🎸🎶
Last Saturday at the Larchmere District near Shaker Square, 30+ bands/DJs took to porches, lawns, and sidewalks to play for hundreds of neighbors and friends.

This event was sold out, but CMA was able to expand attendance capacity due to a favorable weather forecast. Additional tickets are now available for this fun night of live music, special exhibitions, and all-you-can-eat and drink.

Cleveland Heights is transforming blank spaces into vivid public art installations! 🎨⭐️
This summer, eight new art projects will be painted on buildings or in public spaces in the Cedar Lee and Coventry business districts.
The City of Cleveland Heights distributed funding to 15 non-profits to make these community embellishments a reality. @HeightsArts is leading the charge on this project with the goal of supporting both artists and local businesses.
