Today is #Juneteenth, a time to honor freedom, resilience, and our shared history as Americans. Take a moment today to learn how the night sky guided abolitionists like Harriet Tubman: https://t.co/Hxyj4J8QN1
Last week, Mike Lee snuck a last-minute amendment titled "Roadless Rule Nullification" into a wildfire bill that would permanently repeal protections for 45 million acres of national forest.
Our public lands deserve better. Sign our comment: https://t.co/v8gg04Gcp9
@SenCortezMasto The Roadless Rule protects approximately 58mil acres across the country. These areas conserve incredible habitat and resources that are nearly impossible to restore once they’re gone: watersheds, coldwater fisheries, secure wildlife habitat, & backcountry recreation & solitude.
BREAKING NEWS: Tomorrow morning, members of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources including Nevada's Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto may consider an amendment to S.140–Wildfire Prevention Act of 2025 that would repeal the Roadless Rule without any form of public input.
Let @SenCortezMasto know you adamantly oppose this attempt to eliminate these cherished areas through a legislative shortcut that circumvents public comment and environmental analysis: https://t.co/mtIDyORDq2

Good news alert! A bipartisan Public Lands Integrity Act has been introduced in the House of Reps. Mil gracias a @RepGabeVasquez@RepCiscomani@RepJoeNeguse@repdinatitus for acting to ensure we can pass public lands to future generations. https://t.co/gWJGMPfSAm
Our precious public lands should never be used as revenue raisers for partisan issues. I am introducing the Public Lands Integrity Act to prevent these special places from being sold off without our consent. @RepGabeVasquez@RepCiscomani@RepJoeNeguse@RepRyanZinke
NEWS: The Public Lands Integrity Act has been introduced in Congress.
A big thank you to Reps. Vasquez, Ciscomani, Neguse, Titus & Zinke for bringing this bill forward. Bipartisan support for public lands is exactly what this fight needs.
Stay tuned as we continue to advocate.
The Public Lands Integrity Act amends the Congressional Budget Act's Byrd Rule to require 60 votes to pass, not 51, on any provision resulting in the sale, transfer, or disposal of federal public lands.
We strongly urge @SenJackyRosen & @SenCortezMasto to vote in favor.
Tonight, the Senate likely enters vote-a-rama & the Public Lands Integrity Act could be introduced as an amendment. No guarantee it gets a vote. If it does, we’ll see where our elected officials stand on the future of America’s public lands. BHA policy staff are watching closely.
The Roadless Rule directly protects 80,000+ miles of rivers and has tremendous importance for drinking water and wildlife. It's loss would mean losing one of the most significant river protection mechanisms we have.

Queer Mountain WSA remains remarkably wild thanks to its difficult terrain & lack of reliable water sources. Exploring here means navigating sharp volcanic rock, sandy washes, & vast solitude - but for those willing to venture in, the rewards are unforgettable.

June is #Pride month, so this #wildernesswednesday we're taking you to Queer Mountain Wilderness Study Area in southern Nevada!
Bordering Death Valley National Park, the Queer Mountain Wilderness Study Area is a land of extremes: rugged, remote, and strikingly beautiful.
The Queer Mountains sit at the meeting point of cold & hot desert ecosystems, creating a rare transition zone where species from both climates intermingle. Pinyon & juniper dot the uplands, while Joshua trees, barrel cactus, creosote, & cliff rose thrive across the harsh terrain.
From neighborhood parks to remote wilderness, America is full of places to relax, explore, and make lasting memories. Whether you're hiking a trail, paddling a river, or watching a sunset, everyone can celebrate Great Outdoors Month and enjoy the natural splendor of our country.
"Although Las Vegas was literally named “The Meadows” by a Spanish explorer in 1829, some might be surprised to learn of the valley’s history of abundant springs, wetlands and meadows."
