@Darren_Mooney@deathchrist2000@theironfight Honestly, throw an IP like this at someone like Lynne Ramsay with minimal "franchise brain" rules for her to play within and let her go to town. It really should be out and out anthology if it must be a franchise.
@Darren_Mooney@theironfight Yeah, exactly. It doesn't fit a "generic" horror template. The original was more of a hot button drama that happened to be a horror, rather than a "horror film" first and foremost. But now the brand is too "horror-y" for a non horror crowd and not "scary" enough for genre heads.
@Darren_Mooney@theironfight I'd agree. The cast is the only reason to think the budget will be oversized. Can't imagine ScarJo comes cheap. But otherwise yes, if it's modest enough, it should be okay.
@theironfight@Darren_Mooney Possibly. It just seems very soon after the last one, which was very disliked. The well might still be a bit poisoned. It's also just not a franchise that ever needed to be a franchise. Most people don't really care about the Exorcist these days.
@BraYSoSirius@Darren_Mooney Maybe!
He's very reliable for streaming but actual cinema releases are more hit and miss. Doctor Sleep was great and that too was a legacy horror sequel but didn't do great financially. We'll see how Clayface does (he's only writing on that but still).
@BraYSoSirius@Darren_Mooney Maybe, maybe not. Don't think anyone expected the most recent attempt to underperform the way it did.
Flanagan fans will show up. But it'll need to pull in a lot of general audiences too.
I do find it funny that after "direct sequel to the original" didn't work, they're pivoting to "spiritual successors to Exorcist 3". Does that mean if this one fails we're due to for competing prequels again?
"It's like poetry..." etc
I'm sure the famously chill DW fandom will be extremely normal about this children's animated show that they can pay no attention to and are under zero obligation to watch a second of
First look at a new ‘DOCTOR WHO’ animated series.
The series - intended for pre-school children - follows the Doctor and his friends Hannah, Beastie and Toast-IE as they embark on adventures through time & space.
It is very stressful. I was looking forward to the power fantasy bit everyone was making fun of last week, as a break from the sneaking around. Got to that bit last night and it was maybe the most stressed I felt all game.
The new Silent Hill might actually be the scariest game ever made it is so goddamn stressful, you have way less resources than even a standard survival horror game so you almost always have to use stealth and pray they don’t find you and that’s terrifying
The issue was the sheer number of widows, their speed and erratic movements, and the weird way their hit boxes work. If they weren't right in your face they could tank 3 or 4 shotgun blasts to down. And it's a loooong chapter.
@AestheticGamer1 Wait are people now mad at *when* someone finished a game??? So having played the games isn't enough? You have to have played then before an arbitrary year that the person decides? The ridiculous purity tests are getting to new levels
Hadn't thought of this comparison but yes. And the reason PHM did nothing for me and kind of actively annoyed me, is precisely why Digger worked so well.
Huh....
HUH....
May have to try that as a double bill sometime (god knows the last thing that series needs is another branching timeline of arbitrary sequels being ignored but still)
Don't mind this at all (if true).
Do find it funny that as soon as they're no longer allowed use facial deformities for villains they pivot to "who has a kind of weird looking face?"
