But is that enough to say the trenches are getting better? If the same connected people keep winning while everyone else waits for their next call, what the fuck have we actually changed? Normal people should have a chance too. People without a big account or a KOL behind them, who bring something of their own and put real effort into it. We keep saying the trenches need “committed devs” and better memes. There are people already doing that. Are we actually looking for them, or this is all just sweet talk to get clout? yeah .. A few callouts can make a coin run. That alone doesn’t tell us whether this is becoming a better place to make something. FRUG is the example closest to me. Over two years - 762 days !! of drawing, with more than 2,000+ pieces of FRUG art. Find me another dev who did that, I dont like promoting myself but only I am in this position to show how fucked up this space is because I am a living fucking example!! Being overlooked while people ask where the hardworking devs are is genuinely difficult to understand. And this goes beyond artists like me. Someone making videos or spending their evenings keeping a community alive will understand that frustration too. I wish I’d never had to experience. If you’ve ever been left holding a bag & felt stupid for believing in it, you probably understand. You remember how excited you were. You remember telling someone about it. Now you barely want to mention the name. And somehow you’re back on X looking for another meme. You see people posting a ticker's stop, thesis on FOMO, callout on Pump. All sharing wins .. Something makes sense to you. Maybe the character is funny. Maybe you like the Kol who called it. Maybe you wanna just time it perfectly even though you know it will rug.. Maybe you’ve found people who seem to care about the same things. You can know exactly how this place works and still get carried away. Knowing what FOMO or Greed is doesn’t stop you from feeling it. A few good trades can make you trust your own judgment a little too much. After a loss, even a weak reason can start sounding convincing when you want to make it back. But every coin that goes wrong has its own story. Some are actual rugs. Others lose attention as people take profit and move on. An dev might still be working while the people who used to share the work have stopped. You can keep making things without being able to make people care. Then there are several vamp coins around the same meme, run by different groups. Whichever gets the stronger KOL backing runs.. You liked the meme, but the OG version you bought gets forgotten. Ordinary people taking profit isn’t a scam. Those situations deserve different explanations. Still, the person left behind can end up carrying a familiar feeling. You spent more than money. You spent time making memes, Bagworking , talking to people, defending something you thought was worth caring about. It hurts to look back and wonder whether you were the only one taking it seriously. After enough of that, you can start pretending nothing matters to you. It’s easier to say you were only there for a flip than admit you actually liked being part of something. I don’t want to become someone who is embarrassed to care. Getting rugged repeatedly made me frustrated, then tired, then almost unable to be surprised. I put those feelings into FRUG. A lot of what I couldn’t explain properly ended up in his face. He’s standing there in white undies, looking like he’s heard your very convincing thesis before. I can laugh at him and still recognise myself. People don’t need to know what happened to me. They have their own story, and somehow the same FRUG fits into it. When I say tokenizing emotion, I mean giving that shared experience a character people recognise and a coin they can choose to hold together. The drawing already means something. The token adds a shared financial stake around that character. People bring their own reasons for being here, and what happens becomes personal to them too. That carries responsibility. Someone understanding my art doesn’t mean they owe me a buy. Holding longer doesn’t make someone a better person. I want the connection to be genuine enough that people can enjoy FRUG without having to prove anything with their wallet. I also think this feeling can outlast whatever narrative is running this week. New people arrive with their own hopes. Many will get hurt, some will feel foolish for trusting, and some will recognise FRUG without needing MY story explained to them. I’d rather they understand him through the art than have to learn everything the expensive way. What I want to prove is that an artist can take something painful from this space and make something honest that people want to keep around. Something they can laugh with, share and make their own.
