@BilgeEbiri Man, I’ve been saying this for weeks! So weird listening to all the Oscar podcasters act like it was a Brutalist/Emilia Perez dead heat after months of gassing up Anora as the frontrunner. All because of those Globes wins.
@gr8whitebison I feel like I grew up with almost a knee-jerk reaction against the single. Just listing the song you’re told to pay attention to feels lazy. Sometimes, the single is the best song, but I have more fun going to bat for deep cuts.
@BobbyOlivier I think the past two years have basically obliterated any debate to the contrary. She is the biggest pop star of my lifetime, let alone this century, and it’s not close!
Grammys hot take that I think would make the nominations and the show more exciting: don’t allow any overlap between Song of the Year and Record of the Year. As is, the nominees are so interchangeable that a lot of people don’t know what the difference is in those categories.
I am partaking in the 10-year retrospective extravaganza for @taylorswift13's '1989'! I wrote about the savviness of Taylor marketing this LP as her first "official" pop play, and about how the songs are often deeper (and sadder) than they get credit for. https://t.co/6wffHFHSz5

I wrote about falling in love for the first time, but not in the way you might think. Here’s to the first song, the first album, and the first band that truly stops your heart and changes your life, and to @jimmyeatworld’s ‘Futures’ at 20. Via @chorusfm. https://t.co/YQCKHFLcGq
Probably my favorite movie of the year, and I still can’t wrap my head around it just totally failing at the box office AND seemingly being greeted with a shrug by even the people who loved Fury Road.
@xUnderdog21@Yellowcard@chorusfm Sorry to hear about your grandfather! I think grief ebbs and flows; it's always sort of there, but it definitely does get easier with time.
10 years ago, a pop-punk band best known for writing euphoric songs about summer somehow made the album that got me through the death of my grandfather. What an honor to share my story with @Yellowcard and 'Lift a Sail' for @chorusfm. https://t.co/5YAw7B3zUh
