A colleague recently criticized a departmental effort to teach writing to our grad students because "we all learned to write without someone teaching us." Let me explain why they're wrong.
@0Moore276429@Joe_brendan_ At the very least it's majorly underrated. I've found being single is when I'm most fulfilled and productive- more energy can go to my friendships, family, education, and passion projects!
I’ve met so many people who “hated history” in school because it was taught to them as a list of battle dates, but fell in love with it as adults when they read a witty, well-written historical biography.
History is not a list of dates; it’s about people.
Every time I feel down about myself or feel like I'm not "good enough", I remember how absolutely BONKERS my presidential trivia - obsessed, always reading or writing, 5-year-old self would go if she saw this.
Thanks for taking a chance on me, @MaxwellSU ! 🧡🧡🧡
@MaxwellSU sent me the list of courses being offered in the fall today. It hit me hard- after years of hard work, anxiety, and doubts, this Ph.D. thing really is happening.
So wonderful ❤️
@asheltry@PRRIpoll PRRI intern here- only 6 or 7 Buddhists were included in the sample, which means that even if this position is not one held by most American Buddhists, it was the one held by the ones we got ahold of. This unfortunately happens in surveys that include smaller minorities
