"It's incredible, it's very surreal. To come (to Tropicana Field) as a kid and watch a game and dream of being on that field & then actually doing it playing for the home team."
Austin Slater chatted postgame with @andybfreed & @neilsolondz after his #Rays debut!
Brandon Lowe just got tossed by 1B umpire & crew chief Jordan Baker after flying out to left. This is right after the home plate ump butchered Lowe’s challenge. Woof. #Pirates
@DanielCane1970 The ask is separate but it’s pulling from the same tax money bucko. Like I’ve said the last 5 tweets. Go watch jp or something idk bro. Clearly I’m not doing it for you but I’m not gonna lie to you and tell you it’s different when it’s really not different. Same taxpayer money.
@DanielCane1970 For sure they should take less than that, paying for 2/3rds of Bucs project would be ridiculous. But there’s actually only 58 million set aside for them? So I’m not sure where 500m comes from my guy. This will be what comes up next round of negotiations for sure tho.
@DanielCane1970 I’m not doubting if It can or can’t be done. I’m just saying It’s the same funding pool the Bucs and Rays will use. It is not separate, they are pulling from CIT/TDT money. Don’t take my word for it tho just google it if you don’t believe me.
@DanielCane1970 Sorry to burst your bubble but it will come from the same pool of funds whether it’s the city, county or even state funding. Raymond James has also heavily used CIT/TDT money in the past and will for this project as well.
If yall don’t fill up the trop for this idk what to do. “Down and out” is literally a song that seems like it was made for Evan Longoria. “When you found me, and there was no one else around me” like literally it’s a song about his baseball career, he’s the best Evan.
The Tampa Bay Rays will retire Evan Longoria's No. 3 as part of a weekend this July honoring the former third baseman. In addition, Tantric will be on hand to perform Longoria's walk-up song "Down and Out." Giveaways that weekend include a snapback hat and bobblehead.
@AJPreziosi Not necessarily a specific “trops off” 😉 section because this is just a trend that’ll eventually die off, but having a standing room section that’s closer to the game and offers more of the “student section” experience at a game for cheap in relatively unused sections could help
I’ve said this before but the tarps off movement, whether you love or hate it is an indication of where the fan side experience of baseball needs to head towards.
Sure make the family fun stays but it would benefit MLB to embrace a soccer like atmospheres in certain sections
And with how the game has sped up dramatically. It requires a faster pace in every aspect.
You can no longer take your time and miss 20-30 minutes and expect to not miss at least a whole inning.
It would benefit teams to turn typically unused sections into “party” sections.
The Rays have embraced this with many standing room only and standing ledge seats that are great value.
the party deck has been a hit, turning a section that doesn’t get much traffic into one of the best values in MLB.
@TayVictoria8 It was two guys, I saw them, I knew immediately with the game being a blowout that it would catch on like wildfire. Two kids probably early teens. But when I saw them I was like “that’s two legends right there, they are gonna remember that for the rest of their life” lol
