November 8 is #NationalIndigenousVeteransDay, a day for remembrance and commemoration of the contributions of Indigenous veterans in the First and Second World Wars, as well as the Korean War. First Nations, Inuit and Métis people were not eligible for conscription because they were not citizens of Canada, but many volunteered despite the challenges they faced, including travelling long distances, learning a new language and coping with racism against them. Indigenous people have continuously volunteered to serve and have done so bravely and with distinction.
Ontario elementary and high schools are helping students explore the world of #SkilledTrades.
Through in-school programs, students are exposed to many of the 140 skilled trades in Ontario and the wide range of career opportunities they offer.
