The team have tried to land twice at Port Lockroy but high winds have pushed the surrounding sea ice towards Goudier Island, blocking access for the time being, however, things can change very quickly in Antarctica and so they plan to try again in a few days. Fingers crossed!

Pintado is the old name... meaning painted one. However, we really should use the official name Vape Petrel. They follow us in groups of several dozen+ in the eddies created by the ship moving they a turbulent sea! Bransfield Strait - today!

Pintado Petrel’s - their official name is Cape Petrel! Pi taxi means painted one.... so we lean towards their first name! They were following us in folks of several dozen in each group today playing off the eddies the ship makes across the turbulent sea.
