A year before our father, uBaw’ Yena, passed, my sister recorded him endiyala about life & the industry. I’m grateful his words still guide and strengthen me. His voice lives on, not only in the recording but in all I do. Ndiyabulela, Tata. 🤍

Jama Mbeki (1948 – disappeared 1982) was a South African lawyer and activist with Pan-Africanist affiliations, the youngest son of anti-apartheid leader Govan Mbeki and brother to Thabo Mbeki, who later served as the President South Africa. Jama studied law at Roma University in Lesotho and later completed his LLB at the University of Leeds. He eventually settled in Botswana with his wife, Mpho, and their three daughters, where he practiced law. Between 1981 and 1982, Jama became involved with underground networks connected to the Basutoland Congress Party (BCP) and its armed wing, the Lesotho Liberation Army (LLA). He was also active in the Pan Africanist Congress. Jama disappeared without a trace in 1982 while living in exile, and his body has never been found. And no! Passing it on in aid to help is not an excuse!
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
