Congrats to the mighty State AG coalition that stood behind this case. You made antitrust history today. You fought the good fight, you finished the race, and you kept the faith.
Gail Slater did an outstanding job & carried out our antitrust laws especially looking into competition issues important to rural America I’m sorry to see her leave the Dept of Justice
It is with great sadness and abiding hope that I leave my role as AAG for Antitrust today. It was indeed the honor of a lifetime to serve in this role. Huge thanks to all who supported me this past year, most especially the men and women of @justiceatr
Some have even called this "cash for cartels." Today’s reward shows that the #Antitrust Division leverages #whistleblower reports to drive forward our investigations, to the benefit of all Americans.
@LisaMil04911006@AAGSlater Yes ma'am, I am Irish by birth and American by choice. There are so many legal immigrants like me who love and worry about our country at the same time. The Vietnamese ladies at my local nail bar feel the same way and they root for MAGA every day.
This is antitrust signal; forget the noise. 1,000 thanks to the Antitrust Guardians of the Galaxy. 20 years from now, they will say this was your finest hour. IYKYK.
Today, the Supreme Court denied cert in Duke Energy, reinforcing the importance of the Sherman Act and fighting against monopolization that harms competition, chills innovation, and raises prices for American consumers.
IRL, Ed Corrigan is a loving husband and father. Our kids went to school together where he was a highly respected girl Dad. Here are those kids exactly 10 years ago at their Halloween parade. My son was Leprechaun Popcorn Man. Ed's lovely daughter was classier. @rachelbovard 🙏
Narco terrorists?
Nah
Chinese spies?
No
American patriot Ed Corrigan—who deeply loves his family, is a model citizen, & knows the Senate rules better than any living human?
*That* is the guy the FBI chose to obsess over
FBI can’t be trusted
It has forfeited that privilege
JAMES O'KEEFE: This isn’t left or right; it’s about money and corruption. The 8(a) program was meant to help minority-owned small businesses, but they’re subcontracting 100% of the work to massive firms.
@JamesOKeefeIII
alright I've gotten to the point of posting a direct screenshot from an american mill that is 1000% illegal practice and has huge negative effects on american manufacturing
"that may compete against them"
oh so you know metal suppliers have an oligopoly making aluminum way more expensive than it needs to be for every American factory? got it
it's not mill capacity or lead times. it's channel protection, bullying, and illegal practices
in concentrated markets, refusals to deal that foreclose new entrants to protect incumbent distributors can implicate Sherman §1 (group boycott) and §2 (exclusive dealing/monopolization) theories
the quiet part has been said out loud
From K-8 Grade my sons would go to Mass every Wednesday morning with their Catholic school. It was always a joy to see their smiling faces as they tried hard not to fidget and gradually became baby Catholics. There are no words to comfort the grieving families in Minneapolis, but prayer and showing up must surely help. RIP
