“You can make change within your organization by examining how you can help the most marginalized. Those furthest away from the centre of power are the most volnerable.” Anita Hill @cdnwomenfdn#ExchangeYYZ

The government’s attack on CUPE Air Canada Component workers’ right to strike is an attack on the entire labour movement and every worker in Canada.

An important conversation. “White normativity” is something that I’ve been aware of long before there was a term for it. Nearly everything outside of my family that I was exposed to growing up presented “white” as the human default.

Chicago is a city built on labor struggle, and for Black workers, that fight has always been about more than wages—it’s been aboutdignity and freedom.
One hundred years ago, thePullman portersorganized the first all-Black labor union in the country, led byA. Philip Randolph and Chicago’s own Milton P. Webster. For decades, these porters endured low wages, brutal hours, and racism on the job. They were called “George” instead of their real names—a dehumanizing reminder of slavery. Butthey fought back.
Through relentless organizing, theyforced the Pullman Company to negotiatein 1937, securing better wages and protections. But their legacy goes far beyond the railroads—these union leaders spread organizing strategies throughout Black communities, fueling the Civil Rights Movement and the Great Migration.
TheChicago Teachers Union salutes the Pullman portersfor showing us that labor fights are fights for justice. Their spirit lives on in every worker standing up today.

The @fordnation government announced a new mental health program for first responders to provide a 24-hour call line & web portal for therapy & peer support.
Nurses were not included. #onpoli#onhealth

Did you know that Air Canada flight attendants often work over 35 hours a month unpaid? I just emailed them to say this is absolutely unfair, you should too: https://t.co/XiNUWUZOTy
"If they keep dipping into their reserves or making cuts ... the student impact is that students don't have the best education opportunities that they would have if we didn't have to use our reserves, or if we were properly funded," she said #CutsHurtKids
1. Today is Simcoe Day in Toronto. So let's talk about John Graves Simcoe & his strange, complicated relationship with slavery.
The founder of Toronto was a professed abolitionist... who also once fought a war to *preserve* slavery.
Here's my annual thread...
Did you know the LCBO puts $2.5 billion into Ontario public services every year?
Money from #LCBO sales goes toward health care, education, housing, and more.
Doug Ford would rather that money went to his rich friends.
