Xbox's return to console exclusivity isn't a temporary pivot. It's a permanent strategy.

After speaking with senior leaders across the company, one message came through loud and clear: Xbox believes it can't grow a hardware platform without games you can't play elsewhere.

"There has to be a reason for people to buy an Xbox," Matt Booty told me.

That's why Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are exclusive, and Xbox says they won't be the last.
