How NFT Projects Create Fake Hype to Trap Buyers.
Here’s how some new NFT projects may create artificial hype to trap buyers.
First, they build hype by offering WL spots to attract engagement and attention.
Once the project gains enough traction, the founder or team members may use third-party OTC marketplaces to create hype around selling GTD/FCFS WL spots. Sometimes, these offers may come from alternate accounts or be used to create a false impression of demand.
The goal? Make you believe the WL is valuable so you rush to mint it.
Before spending your USDT, do your own research:
> Check actual volume: Is there genuine buying activity, or just hype?
> Check smart followers: Are respected NFT collectors and experienced traders discussing the project organically?
> Verify WL demand: Are spots actually selling, or are people just posting offers?
> Research the team: Look for a credible track record, genuine utility, and transparent communication.
Don't confuse hype with real demand.
I warned you about the $WHUF presale.
It’s now trading ~20% below the presale price, while some KOLs were shilling it for 10% referral earnings. 💀
And remember: a @coinbase listing doesn’t automatically make a project good, and it doesn’t mean Coinbase will only list good projects.
The project’s fundamentals, product utility, and execution matter more than the exchange listing.
You’ll always think you should’ve started earlier.
Sometimes you might feel that something you started 1–2 months ago should have been started much earlier.
That’s why there is never a perfect time - you have to create the right time.
So, if you still haven’t started something, start now. Otherwise, time passes faster than you think.
