@marshmallowlf presents Water Body at the 70th @BFI#LondonFilmFestival, as part of LFF Expanded.
Installed at St Martin-in-the-Fields, the meditative audiovisual work traces the hidden circulation of water across the planet — through rivers, oceans, landscapes and living bodies — using global Earth-systems data to reveal water as a continuous network connecting climate, ecosystems and life.
Beginning deep underground, we course through the branching veins of London’s hidden Rivers, journeying through Estuary to Ocean. Rising from the Sea’s surface, time contracts as the annual Water Cycle compresses into spiralling ten-second loops. Global Water data reveals the interrelations between wet seasons, Phytoplankton blooms and Whale, Seal and Seabird migrations.
Created with Robert Macfarlane, James Bulley and Ludmilla Balkis, Water Body continues the collective’s ongoing exploration of the invisible systems that connect human and more-than-human worlds, and of perception itself.
#MarshmallowLaserFeast: Water Body
On view until 18 October 2026, 12:30–9pm
The Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields
During the festival, MLF co-founder Barney Steel also took part in the BFI discussion The Shape of Water: XR, Immersive Art and Environmental Storytelling, exploring how immersive technologies can make environmental stories more tangible and embodied. Curated by Ulrich Schrauth.

Artwork of the week | Aziza Kadyri
This week, we spotlight #AzizaKadyri’s Self-Exoticisation Archives IV, 2023, from her ongoing AI Suzani Series: Self-exoticisation Archives.
This week, we spotlight The Post-Truth Museum (2021–23) by current https://t.co/ZL1moyEccT artist-in-residence #NoraAlBadri.
Using deepfake and other AI techniques, Al-Badri reanimates museum directors and historic masks, placing fictional statements of restitution, healing, shame, and accountability into their mouths.
The work turns the #museum itself into a site of speculation, questioning who is authorised to speak, interpret, and construct cultural memory.
Blurring institutional critique with machine-generated storytelling, The Post-Truth Museum forms part of Al-Badri’s wider investigation into #technology, colonial collections, and the politics of representation.

Ahead of the opening of #GazelliArtHouse New York, founder Mila Askarova speaks with #Observer writer Elisa Carollo about the gallery’s expansion to Chelsea, its evolving programme and the relationship between its spaces in #London, #Baku and #NewYork.
A look back at our artist talk for Interweave at Gazelli Art House in London, bringing together exhibiting artists LoVid (@lovidlovid) and aurèce vettier (@aurecevettier), moderated by #Julia Greenway.
In this excerpt, the artists discuss their process of building analogue electronic instruments to generate electrical signals, transforming these into sound and video before reworking stills through scanning, photography and recomposition.
These digital and analogue images then become the starting point for physical works, including textiles, moving the signal from screen to material form.
Interweave is on view at @GazelliArtHouse, London, until 25 September: https://t.co/64Cxtz2y9H
Elsewhere at Francisco Carolinum, former https://t.co/ZL1moyEccT resident Ana María Caballero (@CaballeroAnaMa) presents Read the Room, her first institutional mid-career retrospective, spanning poetry, installation, performance, sculpture and digital media.
Caballero will also speak at the V&A, #London, on 19 September, 1–2 PM, as part of The Age of Responsibility: Rethinking Digital Futures with The Lumen Prize during the V&A’s #DigitalDesign Weekend.
Now on view at Francisco Carolinum, Linz, 3 Blockchains, One Collection brings together more than 400 works by over 150 artists across Ethereum, Tezos and Bitcoin, including a strong group of artists connected to the https://t.co/ZL1moyEccT programme.
Acquired by the museum through @GazelliArtHouse and developed in collaboration with https://t.co/ZL1moyEccT, Nguyen Wahed and Distributed Gallery, Primavera De Filippi’s Arborithms explores blockchain-based digital lifeforms that evolve and reproduce across generations.
Also included are Ana María Caballero, Anne Spalter, Auriea Harvey, Rhea Myers, Sara Ludy, Ira Greenberg, Sarah Ridgley and Claudia Hart, reflecting https://t.co/O1mLf0kajf’s longstanding engagement with blockchain, generative systems and digital art.
The work reflects a wider concern running throughout Al-Badri's practice: who controls cultural memory, who has access to it, and what possibilities emerge when technologies are used to redistribute that power?
Nora Al-Badri's https://t.co/ZL1moyEccT residency continues through 31 October 2026.
Introducing Nora Al-Badri, our September–October @GAZELL_iO resident💫✨
A German-Iraqi #conceptual#mediaartist based in Berlin, Al-Badri explores the politics and emancipatory potential of #emergingtechnologies.
Through #machineintelligence, data, speculative archaeology and interventions in museums and public spaces, her anticolonial practice examines questions of cultural memory, ownership, access and institutional power.
Working across #artificialintelligence, archaeology and institutional critique, Al-Badri examines how technologies can be used to question established systems of knowledge, ownership and representation.
In Babylonian Vision (2020), the artist trained a neural network using thousands of images of Mesopotamian, Neo-Sumerian and Assyrian artefacts held within museum collections. From this dataset, the system generates new synthetic objects; imagined artefacts that exist somewhere between cultural memory, speculation and machine vision.
@GazelliArtHouse is pleased to announce the opening of its first permanent gallery in New York this September.
Located at 545 West 25th Street in the heart of Chelsea, the new gallery marks a significant expansion for Gazelli Art House, establishing a permanent presence in New York alongside its spaces in London and Baku.
The gallery will open with Put the Kettle On, bringing together works by Agil Abdullayev, Memo Akten, Derek Boshier, Pauline Boty, Harold Cohen, Brendan Dawes, Jake Elwes, Lilly Fenichel, Jann Haworth, Kalliopi Lemos and Recycle Group.
Spanning more than six decades of artistic practice, the inaugural exhibition reflects the gallery’s cross-generational programme and its longstanding commitment to creating dialogue between historical and contemporary perspectives.
