A sting operation by Dainik Bhaskar has captured on camera exactly what Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation (SNU) has long been warning about - religious conversion, hate preaching and the systematic brainwashing of poor, vulnerable and economically distressed individuals through organised networks masquerading as “faith-healing” centres

FINDINGS OF THE STING

Dainik Bhaskar has exposed a network operating in Dalrajpur village of Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, which, through sleeper cells, identifies and targets villagers suffering from poverty, illness, or personal distress

Such people are connected to a pastor named Vijay, a Nepal-origin individual who has reportedly been living in the area for 30 years

In the sting operation, the Dainik Bhaskar reporter posed as a labourer

After being brought to Pastor Vijay, the reporter was told that only “Prabhu” could solve all his problems

Vijay then connected him with Shivprasad Gautam, a government school teacher, and his wife. Vijay presented the couple as a “success story,” claiming that all their problems disappeared after coming into the “sharan” of Prabhu

Pastor Vijay then told the reporter to visit again but imposed one condition: he must first stop worshipping Hindu deities and remove his kalawa

Gautam’s wife stated:

“You will have to remove the kalawa, otherwise our prayers will not work on you. We used to keep Gangajal in our home. Vijay told us that it was the Gangajal that was preventing the prayers from taking effect.”

The sting shows Pastor Vijay personally cutting off the reporter’s kalawa

As per the report, Pastor Vijay’s network approached every new family entering the village and systematically introduces them to miracle stories and faith-healing claims centred around Prabhu and Yeshu

SERIOUS HUMAN RIGHTS CONCERNS

Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation urges honourable NHRC member @KanoongoPriyank to urgently take cognisance of these findings

The contents of the sting raise serious human rights concerns about making vulnerable individuals abandon their ancestral Hindu identity through faith-healing claims, denigration of their existing beliefs and traditions, and coercion

Such conduct strikes at the dignity, cultural rights and religious freedom of vulnerable communities

Equally alarming is the revelation that a government school teacher is involved in this network. If a public servant funded by taxpayers is participating in activities intended to facilitate religious conversion, the matter warrants immediate scrutiny by competent authorities.

Further, if this government teacher, who is a practicing Christian, is availing benefits under the Scheduled Caste reservation framework, SNU asks that competent authorities book him for violation of Article 341 of the Indian Constitution that restricts reservation benefits to practicing Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs only.

The remarks made by Nivedita Menon in an interview to @thewire_in are a grave insult to countless women who have come forward with complaints involving concealment of identity, coercion, religious pressure, forced conversion and abuse after conversion-nikah

To suggest that such concerns can be explained away by claiming that Muslim men are simply "more attractive" to Hindu women is a shocking trivialisation of women's testimonies, police investigations, and judicial observations in numerous cases across the country

Just last month, a Hindu woman from a Scheduled Caste community filed an FIR in national capital Delhi against history-sheeter illegal arms supplier Fahim Langda, accusing him of kidnapping, rape, forced conversion and criminal intimidation

We, Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation, assisted the survivor in pursuing legal action and continue to support her rehabilitation

The insensitivity of these remarks becomes even more glaring when one considers the plight of Hindu and other minority women in Pakistan and Bangladesh, where cases of abduction, forced conversion, and coerced marriages have repeatedly surfaced, contributing to fear, insecurity, and exodus of minority communities

Equally troubling is the attempt to explain away the asymmetry in interfaith relationships through claims about attractiveness. Such arguments ignore documented instances where Hindu men have faced threats, violence and murders for marrying Muslim women

We strongly condemn these remarks and call upon @NCWIndia to take cognisance of statements that trivialise the lived experiences of survivors and undermine the efforts by women who have approached law enforcement and the courts seeking justice

We are prepared to appear before the commission or any other competent authority with case records, FIRs, survivor testimonies, court orders and other documentary evidence that directly contradict such irresponsible assertions.

During a recent field visit, our Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation team found pamphlets being distributed among Hindu residents of a jhuggi colony in Punjabi Bagh promising relief from illnesses, personal hardships and other problems through acceptance of “Yeshu”

The pamphlets ask recipients to make the following declaration:

“I am a born sinner. I believe that Yeshu came into this world 2,000 years ago, died for my sins, was resurrected, and is alive. I accept Him as my Saviour.”

The material directs recipients to a centre operating from West Patel Nagar

As part of our inquiry, we identified a woman named Pramila Devi, who, according to local residents, distributes these pamphlets within the colony (watch attached video)

We also met Sanjay, who stated that after being approached by Pramila, he attended the centre where a pastor placed his hand on his forehead and asked him to accept Jesus. Such practices are commonly associated with “faith healing” or “laying on of hands” rituals used in certain Charismatic evangelical group (watch attached video)

Based on documentary evidence collected on the ground and statements recorded during our inquiry, SNU has formally complained to @DelhiPolice to investigate the activities being conducted from the West Patel Nagar centre and the distribution of religious inducement material in the Punjabi Bagh colony

We are deeply concerned about the exploitation of economically vulnerable communities through miracle-healing claims, faith-based inducements and promises of supernatural relief from illness and hardship.

We will continue to document, investigate and legally pursue such cases for protection of vulnerable communities.

The girl studies at Rajkumar ji’s free educational centre for underprivileged kids. After somehow escaping from Parvez, she ran straight to him and told him what happened. Rajkumar ji took lead and called police

I visited him and his centre in Delhi today

Around 100 children study here and also receive free meals. Classes begin with Gayatri Mantra and Om, and conclude with Hanuman Chalisa

Those who refuse to do these prayers, are not given admission

Last year we had a major breakthrough in this issue

After notices issued by supreme court on our petition, govt banned 25 OTT platforms including ALTBalaji and Ullu, for streaming porn

But the larger battle is far from over

Many such platforms continue to remain accessible through VPNs and other digital loopholes

It’s a major psychological and child safety issue
