JaggedMemories #15 // @takawo
Takawo Shunsuke is a creative coder whose practice bridges computation, humanities, and education. Working across art, research, and pedagogy, he treats code not merely as a technical tool but as an expressive medium—one that mediates thought, memory, and sensibility through sustained daily practice.
JaggedMemories focuses on anti-aliasing as a defining condition of on-screen media, translating jagged edges and pixel artifacts into animation. Inspired by SinteredMemories, the work captures moments where fragments of the past intersect with future possibilities—making visible the texture of memory as it forms, breaks, and recomposes through code.
Inspired by Yokai in Japanese folklore and Native American totem poles

Could not have asked for a better first day back in Tokyo. 'Walks of Life' (Transverse Ambulation) is on display at the Shibuya Sakura Stage every hour on the hour until June. When I started this project, I never imagined it would be on display just a few meters from the scramble crossing that inspired it. I will be back with some better videos / pictures.
Huge gratitude to @takawo for the incredible opportunity! 🙏🏾

Generativemasks is a collection of generative art by Shunsuke Takawo (@takawo). Takawo developed an algorithm that allows each of the 10,000 graphics to be a mask with its own personality by combining multiple geometric patterns and shapes.
