You know, sometimes I'm critical of different parts of the X-Men fanbase, but since being enmeshed with the Spider-Man and MCU fanbase for the past few weeks. Yeah... we got it good X-Fans.
Personally, I don't mind if Jean loses access to Phoenix-level power, as long as it's still clear that she is Phoenix. To me, Phoenix is part of who Jean is, not only a power set. That matters far more than time travel or casually holding universes in her hand.
The big takeaway from this is Marvel editorial failed Storm in the 90βs, 00βs and beyond.
If a white male had the foundation Storm did in the Claremont run, his fate would been sealed as franchise center/leader. A black woman is not allowed to disrupt the status quo completely.
