"An Open Letter to the Surgeon Who Removed My Breasts.
I have lived every day for the last seven years with the physical and psychological wreckage you left behind. When I was fourteen years old, you took a scalpel to my healthy body and amputated my breasts.
I didn’t have the capacity to understand the permanence of what you were doing to me."
A heart rending read by Claire @burnyourbinder We are immensely grateful she chose to courageously share her vulnerability with us.

From malpractice verdicts to DOJ settlements, institutions that once aggressively expanded pediatric gender services are now reassessing legal and financial risks.
Excellent piece from @benappel
‘Even if many Democratic lawmakers whisper their agreement with opponents behind closed doors, they know they need to remain in the good graces of the radicalised special interest groups.’

Journalist Hannah Barnes has written a detailed account of the Brighton GP clinic recently criticized for providing inadequate care to children.
Hannah raised concerns back in 2024 in her book, "Time to Think."
"One parent, who contacted the NHS and the GMC three years ago after learning their 16-year-old child was being prescribed hormones, told the New Statesman:
“The tragedy isn’t that nobody knew. The warnings were known, the prescribing was celebrated, and institutional curiosity went missing precisely when it was needed most.”
Another, parent whose attempted legal action against WellBN helped trigger the investigation, said:
“There is nothing worse than witnessing someone inflict damage upon your child. What has happened here is profound harm: the stripping away of a child’s health, a normal youth, and their future of a fulfilled adult life."
In the financial year 2024-25, WellBN issued prescriptions for masculinising and feminising hormones to close to 1,100 young people under the age of 25. Some as young as 12-14.

Very promising update from developmental biologist Emma Hilton.
Her affordable, quick, portable, simple, cheek swab sex test is progressing apace.
A potential boon to sports teams and organisations worldwide.
Go @FondOfBeetles !
Hello all. A quick update from me.
My sex screen assay is progressing well.
I promised rapid: I can detect SRY from a cheek swab in about 30 minutes. I am currently testing whether I can drop it to 10 minutes without compromising reliability.
I promised cheap: The current cost per assay is about £2. I am currently testing whether I can drop this to below the pound line, and it’s very promising.
I promised accessible: The assay could be run by any grassroots sports coach, school nurse, and my Mum.
I promised on-site: This is where my lab efforts are currently focussed. I’ve always held “from the UK to Uganda” as a principle, and ensuring easy deployment is crucial. I’m currently learning a lot of materials science…
The other main push is setting up various blinded, larger-scale tests. This will require lots of form filling.
If anyone wants to help me hit my final budget target, my crowdfunder is here.

Dr. Kurt Miceli’s primary concern is data. Data may not seem like such an urgent matter, but hands-on care for detransitioners can only be provided under ICD diagnostic codes.
Physicians, healthcare systems, and insurance companies are required to use these alphanumeric codes to clarify and document diagnoses, symptoms, procedures, and health conditions in medical records for billing, epidemiology, and research purposes.

“...about three to four years ago I started seeing patients come through suffering from the effects of ‘gender affirming care’…
My patients come to me expecting a fix, they come expecting a solution, they come expecting a treatment or a medication that will fix the problem or what they perceive as the problem that will take them out of the discomfort and the pain they're in and get them to a place where they can get to work the next day and be okay.
That's a lie...”
The moderator, Dr. Lisa Anllo, who is involved in caring for people who have lost body parts or function to cancer, began the discussion with the sobering truth that there are no quick fixes or getting back what was lost.
This means “We must be respectful of the limitations as well as the benefits of further medical interventions”.
Put another way, asking people harmed by gender medicine to trust physicians is a tall order, but each panelist is working to earn that trust in different ways.
