Thank you Governor Kemp for your leadership!
We agree, Georgia is different, and we’re proud to work with you and other state leaders to keep energy affordable and our state competitive - leveraging growth and investment from large load customers to lower rates and bring savings to residential and small business customers.
Earlier this year, @GeorgiaPower awarded the Rose City Royals, an 8U softball team from Thomasville, a $2,000 grant from its Power Her Dreams grant program.
This grant will go towards equipment and other items for the team.
The Royals were recognized at the @UGASoftball game on May 2.

Honoring Service. Celebrating Legacy.
We’re proud to share the story of Jim Rittenhouse — a Georgia Power retiree, World War II veteran, and remarkable leader whose legacy continues to inspire.
At just 18 years old, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and served on the front lines in Europe during World War II. After being wounded in action, he was awarded the Purple Heart before returning home and continuing his service to others in a new way.
Jim went on to spend 38 years with Georgia Power, rising to Vice President of the East Metro division and helping lead through a period of rapid growth in the Atlanta region. Along the way, he built strong teams, supported customers, and embodied the values that continue to guide our work today.
Now, at 100 years old, Jim remains a proud veteran and active member of his community — a powerful reminder of the lasting impact service can have, both in uniform and beyond. We’re honored to share Jim’s story and celebrate the legacy of service he represents.
It’s official ✅🎉 Today, the Georgia Public Service Commission approved a plan to lower overall rates, delivering $285 million in annual savings for Georgia Power customers starting this summer. 🤝⚡
Beginning in June, the typical residential customer using an average of 1,000 KWH per month will see lower overall rates—saving about $50 per year, or $4.04 per month.💡
Our teams work every day to run our business efficiently and keep reliable and affordable energy flowing to our customers.

⚠️Severe weather threat through the evening!⚠️
Showers and storms will continue to develop across the area through the evening hours. A few storms may become severe, capable of producing damaging wind gusts and small hail. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out in N GA. #gawx
While the wildfires are mostly contained in South Georgia, their effects will last. We wanted to take a moment to share where our Brantley County neighbors can find help—whether it’s housing, food and toiletries, or simply a hot meal.
We are honored to have the opportunity to be on the ground with Family Connections to support their mission, both through volunteers and a $10,000 donation. Across the affected counties, we have also contributed an additional $25,000 to support our neighbors during this time.
If you or anyone you know has been affected by the Georgia wildfires, please know that help is available. We are here to connect you with the organizations working on the ground to provide support.
A meaningful career pathway starts with hands-on opportunity. 🤝
Through our partnership with Gwinnett Technical College and Gwinnett County Public Schools, 11 students completed forklift training and earned their certification. 👏
“This program is a powerful example of what can happen when industry and education come together with a shared purpose,” said Andre Person, Workforce Development Coordinator. He continued, “This is what workforce development looks like: connecting students directly to hands-on training and building a skilled, job‑ready pipeline for our communities.” 💡🔧
We’re proud to support the continued development of our neighbors and help create real opportunities across our community. 🌟
