"If we lose this game, I'll walk back to Pittsburgh."
On this date in 1989, Pirates broadcaster Jim Rooker made that promise after Pittsburgh scored 10 runs in the 1st inning.
The Pirates lost 15-11.
And Rooker actually walked the 300+ miles back to Pittsburgh.

Now if you actually watch that series then you know they open every episode with interviews of the actual soldiers depicted and even 60 years later they sometimes cry talking about this war because it fucked them up that much. This was bad. Noone should ever go through this.
ngl everyone I’ve met like this was the most socially maladjusted person I’ve known. go to the bar with ur friends. have a beer on a friday night. be Normal
Yes, if you frame it as an exercise in historical memo and the problems of relying on oral history.
This scene is a case in point: Dike didn’t actually have a breakdown at Foy. He was hit in the chest early in the fighting and was in shock.
Imagine being random MP dude sent to the beach like hour after the actual landing happened just to direct traffic and 80 years later some 10 IQ retards try to portray you as some evil political commissar or something
These people are incredibly delusional
The right has to pretend the Democrats are dumb, wild animals because their favorite says windmills cause cancer and we could stop a hurricane by nuking it.
While the scene he's showcasing here is epic, it's actually based on a fiction.
In reality, Lt Norman Dike was shot.
He didn't lose his nerve.
This is why movies aren't used to teach history. That might be what it looked like, but that's not what happened.
i remember out of boredom in like 2012 i dug out Call of Duty 2 for the ps2 and realized there was an online mode, so i hooked up my ethernet cable and went online out of curiosity.
there was ONE guy globally online, so i joined his match. he was randomly wandering around the map, clearly just messing around thinking he was alone. i very carefully watched him through the scope and then sniped him in one shot.
he instantly went offline.
i think i scared the shit out of him
