Germany’s inaugural high-level “Invest in Germany Summit” wrapped up yesterday, bringing together around 200 international & domestic business leaders with leading German politicians.
Investment commitments amounting to approximately €230 billion have been pledged.

I held a meeting with the German Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ms @GermanAmbUK.

Germany is a strategic partner of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and one of our major allies in Europe. Berlin continues to provide critically important military assistance, particularly for Ukraine’s air defence and the production of interceptors to counter jet-powered Shahed drones. Cooperation in the joint production of drones and unmanned ground vehicles is also developing.

The German government recently allocated an additional funding package for Ukraine’s energy sector. All these are extremely important steps in providing support against the backdrop of Russia intensifying its strikes on Ukraine ahead of winter.

The Ambassador reaffirmed the German government’s unwavering position on the need to continue putting pressure on Russia, which must be intensified in order to achieve peace – for Ukraine and all of Europe.

100 years ago, the beloved children's book Winnie-the-Pooh created by English author A A Milne was published.

It was not until 1987 that a German translation appeared which truly did justice to Milne’s work: the version translated by Harry Rowohlt.
