Let me tell you how it happened. Nigeria’s ginger export hit zero from N26 billion within 3 years.

The official story blames fungal blight.

But here is what actually happened. When Nigerian farmers lost their indigenous seed supply, grant-aided interventions arrived with replacement seeds.

An associate professor at Lagos Business School flagged publicly that some of those interventions involved GMO organisms that weakened indigenous crops and compromised soil health.

That is not a conspiracy theory because it is a documented academic concern.

Now that Nigeria spoke got destroyed by the GMO seedlings….what is not the result?

Nigeria was forced to import ginger from China to fill domestic demand. Chinese ginger has none of the pungency, oleoresin content, or quality that made Nigerian ginger a global premium product. And the ginger now sitting in Nigerian markets tastes like wood because it essentially is wood.

The two indigenous varieties that built Nigeria’s global ginger reputation, the Tafin Giwa and Yatsun Biri, had decades of soil relationship and quality built into them.

Once the soil was degraded and those seed varieties were displaced, the product that returned was a pale imitation. Nigeria did not just lose a market. It lost a seed. And without a National Ginger Seed Bank, which nobody has built, it may never fully get it back.

DCI detectives intercepted a vehicle carrying three suspected stolen cattle in Elgon View, Eldoret, earlier today. When the suspects saw the officers, they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Citizen TV has released CCTV footage of the gruesome attack in Kilimani.

At around 6:30pm, Newton Ambayi, the attacker, and the lady were heading home from work in Kilimani, Nairobi.

According to CCTV footage, Newton allegedly attacked the lady in public, at one point almost getting hit by a car. The lady was walking with two female friends, unaware of what was about to happen.

She was seen running toward a nearby pharmacy as Newton chased after her. Within minutes, the area was covered in blood.

After the attack, Newton walked out of the pharmacy. The lady also attempted to come out but collapsed and died in the process.

Witnesses say that when a crowd began gathering, Newton hugged the lady and pretended to be injured so the mob would not attack him.

Police later arrived at the scene and rushed Newton to the hospital. Officers reportedly noticed that he had no injuries, only blood on his body from holding the victim.

Reports indicate that Newton and the lady had previously dated and were also workmates. The lady had earlier left the workplace after ongoing disagreements with him, but later returned after being rehired.

The disagreements reportedly continued and later led to the tragic incident. Till now, Newton's intentions for the attack are still unclear.

I ENDED my 4-year term as a parent of Alliance Girls High School in December last year. I may not have the very finest details about the financial manenos raised by the Education Ministry yesterday but I read mischief in the who matter. I know how fast propaganda travels even before the truth and facts have put on shoes.

First the Principal Margaret Njeru reported at Alliance Girls in October last year from Masii Girl. She took over from Jedidah Mwangi who retired after heading the school since early 2023. In fact I have only met Ms Njeru once because visits to the school were restricted in the third term.

What I can say as a former parent (and certainly I am not the only one) is what I said here several time in 2024 and 2025 amidst controversy. That AGHS has its own financial tradition going back many years and which is negotiated and agreed upon by parents.

It has its traditional activities which are financed either by parents or other sources of funds different from the ministry and which give the students and teachers the academic drive and energy.

Let's be honest, the President's daughter was a student at the school and left about two years ago. What's this that the President himself as a parent never encountered that is now a subject of such a "scandal"?

Alliance Girls has the who-is-who in its community of parents and that has been the case for years. In fact, its thise "mighty" parents who fight to protect the history, the traditions and the dignity of the school for the sake of their daughters.

The AGHS parents have a very independent and self regulating ways of raising the money to meet expectations and I can state without fear of contradiction that some of the activities are financed from account run by parents as signatories. I say because I know the details that far.

Investigations are good and measures to protect public funds are good too. But what looks like witch hunting should be pointed out at the earliest opportune moment.
