I shared a room with people who refused to accept that children in Uganda should suffer from heart disease without access to proper care.
Having signed an MOU with @HealthyHeartFdn,
Together we will bring heart screenings, health education, surgery support and pediatric cardiac care to families who need it most, Across Uganda, in communities, in schools where it matters , givening children a real chance at life.

Somewhere tonight, a parent will put a child to bed and pray that their heart holds on for one more day.
Today, we moved that prayer a little closer to an answer.
Together with Healthy Heart Foundation, we signed a partnership that will help bring heart screenings, awareness and support for children needing life-saving care, while strengthening pediatric cardiac services in Uganda.
Every heartbeat matters.
And every child deserves a fighting chance.

For 16-year-old Junior Lwanga and 13 other children living with cerebral palsy, 21st June will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Following a specialist assessment, Junior was recommended a properly fitted wheelchair suited to his condition. However, the wheelchair he had been using was not only worn out and unsafe but also unsuitable for his medical needs, putting him at risk of worsening posture and possible spinal complications.
That story changed when @SondeRotary with partners, provided him with a customized wheelchair complete with a supportive headrest, carefully tailored to his body measurements and condition.
For Junior, it means greater comfort, safety, and dignity.
But the greatest relief is for his grandmother, his primary caregiver. For years, she has pushed him in an aging wheelchair that was becoming increasingly difficult and unsafe to use. Every journey to therapy, school, or simply outside came with worry and physical strain.
Today, she no longer has to carry that burden alone.
As she watched Junior settle comfortably into his new wheelchair, her smile said what words could not: this was more than a mobility device. It was relief for tired hands, hope for the future and a reminder that #RotaryEyamba.

A full circle moment at St. Charles Lwanga Cerebral Palsy Day Care Centre in Bukerere.
On 6th July 2025, during his first visit as District Governor, @GKitakule visited @SondeRotary’s signature project, broke ground for a children’s play area and shared how deeply the work touched him.
During fellowship, @BOU_Official staff presented a UGX 11 million dummy cheque towards the construction of the play shade.
At Christmas, through GK Foods, he extended support by donating food items to the school, which were shared among the families during the festive season.
Fast forward to 21st June 2026, DG @GKitakule returned to commission the completed play/tea area, no longer a vision on paper but a space alive with children. He also spent time with the children and their caregivers.

Myheart is full of gratitude.
I witnessed something beautiful at St. Charles Lwanga Bukerere Cerebral Palsy Day Care & Rehabilitation Centre.
A simple shade to shelter children from the sun. Wheelchairs to give them greater mobility and independence. But beyond these gifts was something even more powerful. LOVE
To @SondeRotary and our partners at the @MinofHealthUG , thank you for seeing these children, standing with their families, and choosing compassion over indifference.
Moments like these remind me why Rotary exists. When we come together, we restore dignity, bring comfort, and give hope.

Today, 14 children living with cerebral palsy at St. Charles Lwanga Cerebral Palsy Day Care Centre received a lifechanging gift of mobility through the @SondeRotary and its partners.
The mobility assistive devices were handed over by @rotaryd9213 Governor @GKitakule and donated by the @MinofHealthUG through the @MulagoReferral Orthopaedic Department.
The intervention followed a recommendation by Pediatric Neurologist Dr. Stephen Byarugaba of Children's Medical Centre, Bugolobi, after a medical assessment conducted earlier this year where he identified that some children urgently needed mobility support.
For children living with cerebral palsy, mobility is often a barrier to education, therapy, social interaction, and independence. These devices are more than wheelchairs they are pathways to dignity, inclusion, and opportunity.
With each valued at UGX 1.5 million, the 14 devices represent an investment of UGX 21 million in transforming young lives and empowering families.

Recalling his own life-altering road accident, the Lord Mayor @RonaldBalimwezo pledged @KCCAUG 's full commitment to partner with @ASOU_Official .
He emphasized that saving lives is directly tied to safeguarding our economy: "We're ready to partner with you to curb trauma and deaths because a sick person affects the economy and we want our people to be safe. A kind of Kampala we want."
By aligning surgical expertise with city administration, we are moving beyond the operating theatres to proactively engineer safer streets.

What moves me most about @Rotary is not what we do, but why we do it.
Behind every project is a life changed, a friendship formed, a community uplifted. Service has a unique way of bringing out the best in us. I am grateful to be part of a family that turns compassion into action and hope into lasting impact.
If you've ever wondered how you can make a difference while growing lifelong friendships, perhaps Rotary is the place for you.

Imagine arriving at a health facility seeking help, only to discover that the most basic need is missing.
Water is not a luxury. It is the quiet hero behind every clean ward, every safe delivery, every healed wound, and every life saved. What stands here today is more than just infrastructure. It is a promise. A promise that patients will be treated with dignity and that health workers can serve with confidence.
Thank you @rckiwenda and the power of collaboration, that promise now flows every day.
This is how we change lives, one partnership, one community, one drop at a time.
