U.S.: California bans officials from using insider information to profit from prediction markets
California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed an executive order banning state-appointed officials from using insider information to make money in prediction markets.
The order came after several suspicious cases in which individuals appeared to place highly accurate bets on U.S. military actions involving Iran and Venezuela. In one case, six suspected insiders reportedly made a total of $1.2 million by betting on a U.S. attack on Iran shortly before the conflict began.

โI hardly ever make mistakesโ: The U.S. president referred to the Strait of Hormuz as the โTrump Straitโ during a speech at the Future Investment Initiative event in Miami.
โWeโre negotiating, and it would be very good if we get a result, but for that to happen, they have to open the โTrumpโ Strait. I mean, the Strait of Hormuz. Excuse me, Iโm very sorry, what a terrible mistake. The fake news will say it was a slip-up. But I hardly ever make mistakes,โ he said.
Trump said:
โI know saying this may sound a little strange, but I very much want my legacy to be recognized as that of a great peacemaker.
I truly believe that I am a peacemaker. It may not look like that right now, but I think I am a peacemaker.โ
