Great story, bad conclusion. Pizza Hut did use nearly 14,000 lbs. of kale to hide salad-bar ice, and the fake trade group was real. But the kale craze predates that PR stunt, humans have eaten it for 2,000+ years, and it is genuinely nutrient-dense. Half true, heavily seasoned.

It’s not “inexplicable.” Missourians read your amendments, rejected them overwhelmingly, and now you’re insulting their intelligence for refusing to obey. Blaming fear and “foreign money” is easier than admitting you offered bad policy wrapped in arrogant salesmanship. The voters understood just fine. You didn’t.
